Joined up about five years ago, before the big hack anyway, just to use the classifieds. Seem to have got sucked in to the rest of the mad house somehow

It was GoFar when I joined up, even managed to win a prize on a GoFar sponsored Trailquest ๐Ÿ˜† Some daft journo was wheeling around on a scooter โ—

I took up mountain biking in early 2003 and came across this site later that year so it'll be 10 years for me too.

Unless it was 2002. My memory isn't what it used to be.

I was one of those people who funded the first mag, and had been on the forum for a months prior. When was that?

Since just before Issue 1 so about the time it changed from GoFar to Singletrack. So late 2000/early 2001. Same user name throughout.

Foot and mouth. Bloody nightmare posted a lot around then as it ruined my PhD. Think I joined as soon as it started. As I remember most people just used their names. And bits of the forum used to get put in the mag. Imagine how dull it would be now!

Is that one of the symptoms?

I joined whenever it was issue one came out, when there was a list on the left of the screen of all the users logged in.

My third 'incarnation', one due to a long work-related absence and the spam email account I'd registered with expiring, and another due STW's password remind/reset being out of order for a while and it being quicker to create a new account than log in to the old one (and I fancied a change)

Joined shortly after I picked up Issue 1 from a slightly anxious-looking bespectacled bike journo at the NEC Bike Show.

Same username, though I'm not sure why because my real name is Mildred.

Bought first issue of the magazine at the old Coed-y-Brenin outdoor shop. Can see the entire magazine collection from where I'm sitting.

So, on here from August 2001...originally jack not flap_jack, changed name when I acquired that sobriquet from always being last to be ready during a tour-de-mont-blanc in 2003.

10 years here too. I had more hair and less waistline

I'd just got back into riding again after a long lay off. With a bike with v brakes (remember them?) that cost less than I'd now spend on a set of wheels

I came on here on the recommendation of Snakebite (who i bought my first full susser off) to find some routes, and see if I could tag along with a few people to ride with. Since then I've met, and been riding with, some fantastic people for nearly a decade now, and they're some of my best friends. Oh.... And Hora! ๐Ÿ˜€

only a couple or three years..

I'd never really been interested in the cycling media machine, or the wacky world of the online community before the advent of my kids and the curtailing of other ways to pass the time..

it's bloody crazy ๐Ÿ˜ฏ
