I borrowed him from one of my children. He was a willing sort which is good because he was severely lacerated by the rotors in a few of the early rescue attempts!! 😆

Emma - just don't let him find out there is one you can control from an iPhone and it has a remote camera on it...

that's a PicooZ. It IS a toy.

these, however, are most definitely NOT toys:
[img] [/img] [img] [/img]
[img] [/img]

the littlest one is about the size of a PicooZ, but controllable.

the big black blob next to the biggest one is a 22x18in bass drum in its bag, for comparison

the yellow & red one is about 20in rotor diameter

The last time I pulled a similar face was the scene where Daniel Craig gets outbid the sea in his blue pants in James bond. I nearly fainted.

Last time nearly fainted was watching Megan Fox in Transformers...

*zones out for a minute*

Oh dear - it's all getting a bit FHM in here. Shame that a thread an such on innocent hobby should degenerate into adolescent sexist slobbering.

Only 4? Poor deprived man - I have 6 (plus 4 planes and a flapping wing bat thing). Most of which are rather more like the ones in john d's pics (though I only have little ones you can fly in the house if you want - biggest is a 4#6 for those in the know). Far, far more fun to fly them fast outside though if you have helis capable of that.

If you want an explanation of why they're so absorbing, how about you first giving a completely reasoned explanation about why mountain biking is fun - at the end of the day they're all toys.

FOUND IT!!!!

Because of this thread I made a concerted effort to hunt it down. My mum had hidden it in a kitchen cupboard (behind some cleaning products 😳 ). It's on charge now. I'm SOOOOOOOOO excited!!!

Anyone who is interested in tiny helicopters (and quite frankly who wouldn't be??), and lives in That London; go and see my mate Wayne in Modelzone in Holborn. He'll help you out. Walked in there the other day; he's 'demonstrating' one for a customer. 😀 They sell loads of them, tiny ones and proper full on nitro ones. Emma would despair if her boyf discovered that place....

I actually need this:

the big one has had one hover since I got the engine running. I don't have time for it, unfortunately.

the red & yellow one is an indoor-in-a-sports-hall thing & I can only yet hover it tail in, haven't managed side on or nose-in yet.

the tiny yellow one is a doddle to fly, flies itself really. Need a non-coax one about the same size; Blade MS-X (?) would be ideal.

I have a medevac Bell 47 as well, but that's just as (i.e. too easy) easy to fly as the little yellow one.

What is the little yellow one? It's an MSR you're thinking of, though a Nine-Eagles Solo Pro is very similar and a lot cheaper. My smallest 4ch is a Silverlit one - still a toy, but a very good fully controllable toy. Then have a 5g6 co-ax, 4#3Q and 4#6 FPs. The 4#6 is a lovely little heli with a 3-axis gyro, so stable enough that I can hover it nose in in the living room, but just a tad big to do much else with in that space - the V100D01 being advertised up there flies similar but is smaller, and a definite step up on an MSR/Solo Pro if you already fly bigger things.

See what you've started Emma - hopefully your other half is still reading this and getting tips (I got my first 2 helis as presents - clearly there wasn't too much evidence of the addiction after the first).

Little yellow is a Blade MC-X IIRC. Coax 4ch job.

Full fleet is:
1x PicooZ
1x Blade mcx
1x Twister Bell 47 medevac
1x Twister 400 3D
1x Century Hawk .30

Unfortunately there was a horrific accident with the paper lampshade, and I'm afraid my heli is now a little bit borkedificated. 🙁 The lampshade is kaput too.

I will need a new tiny one. Recommend please.

If you still want something which is really easy to fly and this isn't too expensive then http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/silverlit-z-bruce-4-channel-remote-control-helicop/ - is by far the most controllable helicopter which is also dead easy to fly out of the box. If you leave the right stick alone then it flys just like any 2ch toy heli (though with all the controls on the left stick), but the right stick gives you so much more control. Otherwise just get one of the cheapy Picooz ones.

any one of the EFlite Blade M-- series would do you Elf. About £100. Or Twister Medevac, now down to about £70 incl radio, if you want something a little bigger but still indoor friendly

Emma82 - lol and what do you expect? They ALL want a helicopter because they all still want to grow up and be a pilot, astronaut etc...

(okay, some probably are, already)

I expected them all to be super cool dudes and think 'ahhh what a saddo poor Emma lives with' and restore my faith in men. Luckily ben decided to come out with the most sexist comment ever last night in response to my 'what is it about men and these crappy flying things' was something along the lines of 'of course you don't get it sugar tits, you're a woman, men find cool stuff interesting, that's why we invent stuff like planes and tanks and ways to cure cancer, because were men and we are better'. Needless to say he got walloped and I went to bed.
