Wow - hadn’t spotted that!!! 😳
That puts the Quattro out then. I’m adding the £995 tech pack which puts the Quattro £20 over the limit.
I've currently a Blackline A6 Avant - done 70k in last 3 years .. will be sad to see it go back in March ..wonderful car and faultless .. Ive ordered the A4 avant this time mainly due to the 40k limit mentioned above
What other options have you spec'd? No way to get it under 40?
No, base Quattro Tdi is 39180. Tech pack is 995. I,m paying 10k less, but it’s RRP I believe?
Ah nightmare. Yeah it's based on list price, I paid nowhere near list and it made no difference. Just has to suck it up 🙁
Pushed the button tonight and ordered the A6 estate 2.0 diesel. They are so cheap I couldn’t turn it down .
Are we allowed a pic once you get it ?
Coffee machine, wood burner and Orange next the Dan!
I’m lazy, so have a Nespresso Machine at home 😳
Already have a woodburner & chip my own wood!
Santa Cruz ( old Heckler) instead of 🍊
Enoy the car 🙂
The road tax is indeed a pita however there is no guaranty they won’t put it up in the future, road tax for my car wasn’t £500+ pa when I bought it 😐

Good choice 🙂

No quattro though, extra £300/year VED, £60/ month higher PCP & £15/ month fuel costs adds up to over £100/ month extra. I don’t need it - our second car will be a small 4x4,probably an XC40.
Brilliant choice, what's the lead time on it?
Here's mine, got a lot burner too...... just need an Orange 5 as my transition doesn't fit the stereotype 😉

1st week April delivery.
Nice one, not too long then 🙂
Initially quoted up to 16 weeks, so not bad at all! What mpg do you manage?
What mpg do you manage?
real world, with lots of stop start and slow commuting, mine is showing 36 mpg on the computer. It's the 190 diesel quattro STronic. It has bike racks permanently fitted. On a longer drive, no bikes, it will do around 45 mpg, or with 2 or 3 bikes, 40 ish. Slightly less economic on same journey profile than the manual BMW 520d Tourer it replaced 10 months ago.
Pretty much what ianc has just said, my computer indicates a slightly higher average at about 38-39mpg and there is a lot of slow moving start stop in my commute too. I don't know where Audi got their official figures from but they're way off..... it's a big old beast of a car after all.
Ok, so no Quattro, no racks, no traffic 40-45 is achievable?
^^^^ Easy I reckon, yes
Ta.
Cant believe I’m excited about getting a diesel estate...........but I am!!
You should be, imo you’ll not be diassapointed
Agreed (sadly) £100 a month extra is a hell of a lot. Having said that those XC40’s are ££££
I put CrossClimates on mine in December. Original tyres had 15k on them and a few mm left and I am doing just under 20k a year. My thinking was replace them before the winter snow and ice. They have taken a surefooted and able winter car into a really able one, can’t overstate how good they are - wet roads, icy roads, snowy roads. Quieter, comfy, better braking, much better traction and road holding.
Happy days @ianc
I am looking for a new car (new or probably 1 year old). The salesmen have been quite surprised to hear me say that unless it takes cross climates, nokian weatherproofs or maybe conti winter contacts it’s unlikely I’ll buy the car. Some have tried to sell me their winter wheel package at £2k (my responce of “thats a joke” hasn’t gone down well)
^^^ Audi offered me a ‘tyre garage’ option where for just a few thousand pounds they swap your wheels twice a year and store your other set somewhere warm and safe in Audi bags. Aye right 😎
So not really buying anything other than a leasing contract?
I didn’t buy anything. Well , I did, tyres from Blackcircles....
Yes, XC40 not cheap. The boss is very smitten, and not interested in the high spec Sportage she could have for £80 less a month.🤬
We can get the same spec XC60 for the same price.
@DanSTW you might cheekily try and get a bit more discount as you’ve just read the stories published in last couple of days from Daily Telegragph and DW (German news site in English) about the monkey testing .. one thing is that the 2015 VW Beetle was MORE polluting (ie made monkeys sicker) than the 20 year old Ford pickup.
FYi I am looking diesel cars inc 2015 model year from Mercedes and BMW so no agenda here

In fairness I’d take an XC40/60 over a Kia too ... if I may say so have a look at GLA as a car / lease comparison it may be quite price competitve. The Volvo is quite quirky looking in a good way and has the style points. The AMG 4wd with diesel or petrol is more about style and spec than Lewis Hamilton oomph
Cheers - I’ll have a look at them
So you had a volvo? What is the main reason to change? I had an xc60 for 7 years, prior to that had 3 Audi’s which I kept for 3 years each until finance was paid. Never really liked them to be honest. Now have the new V90 CC, ex demo. Fully loaded and quite nice (my opinion of course).
...can’t we post images any more?
Huggis, purely price. The old XC90 (last of the old shape, £12k off list, still £470/month PCP for 15k/yr. The A6 is £360 for 20k miles. A new shaped XC90 would be £600+. There is no A6 equivalent for anywhere close to that price.
I’ve also had a promotion af work, involving more driving. At the moment, I drive to work in my battered old 55 plate Hyundai Tucson (manual, underpowered) the Volvo stays with the wife for kids/dogs and we use if for family longer runs. I fancied something a bit nicer to spend a lot of time in.
We may well end up with an Xc60 too if I can persuade the boss.
I liked the V90, especially the CC. It’s very long - longer than my XC90! My work car park spaces aren’t huge. Plus....... more expensive on pcp .
Well if you’re driving more miles you might miss the volvo seats! I could rarely go more than an hour in the Audi before needing a break, the volvo I can drive until I need to refuel! The V90 is a longer car so does take getting use to..but not any longer thank an xc90 I guess.
I got mine in PCP for £282 month, D5 with every add on (active chassis, panoramic roof, bowers and Wilkins stereo etc.). I found a huge difference in price between dealers for nearly new. Worth shopping around and traveling to get the right car.
...remember to negotiate on the PCP rate also not just the price. I think I managed around 5.8%.
That’s a good price! I found pcp on used cars pretty expensive, bizarrely, many rates over 10%. 3.9%APR on the A6.
Surprisingly, the V90 is 5cm longer than my XC90!
with regard to comfort, I agree Volvo was very good. I’m finding that higher spec’d models tend to be more “sporty” with stiffer suspension & larger wheels (thinner tyres!). A good spec lower model will tend to be comfier. My A6 has a decent spec ( leather, heated seats, tech pack, connectivity, satnav, elec boot, digital drivers display) and has smaller wheels ( better economy, more comfortable ride) comfort seats, and the dynamic chassis, rather than the sports version on the S-line.
ah- ok should have read the entire thread..seems you've bought the car already. sounds good and hope you enjoy
Ta - always good to hear opinions though - I’m sure there’s plenty of other car buyers reading.
I was very close to getting a Volvo (options from V60cc/xc60/v90cc) but the deals on the A6 were just too good.
Re XC60s - no idea if there are any hanging around anymore, but I got an outgoing model 4WD R-Design diesel manual for £1500 down and £250 a month over 3 years on 8,000 miles a year (took delivery of it last September).
I always found ny A6 very comfortable. 3+ hours eqch way to Wales/Peak District for riding, numerous solo drives 10 hours to Alps etc
I've seen this on Pistonheads -
" https://www.lease-hub.co.uk/
Not letting me post a link but 2L petrol auto Volvo V90 R Design is £167.99 + VAT on a 6+23 with 5k miles.
Works out at £5,846 for the lease plus £295 charge so £6,141 all in - about 16% of retail price
On the website, select:
Volvo
Then select V90 Estate (do not select V90 DIESEL ESTATE OR V90 ESTATE) as its only the V90 Estate in lower case letters that gives you the petrol deal."
^ the 5k miles is the issue. That is 61p per mile, before fuel and insurance. 😮
What @Matt says. If you buy a new car with the intention if doing 5k mikes a year you are a bit nuts (I average less than that in my car so I can confirm its economically nuts even owning it for 11 years)
