Bearnecessities - so far on this thread you have rescinded your original rant (thus implying that you have accepted that it could be possible that you weren't entirely right), AND you have taken note of another person's point of view.

This sort of behaviour is entirely unacceptable on an internet forum, and therefore I feel that you should be banned indefinitely.

😉

Why don't you make a list of all the people who you don't like or who are rude.

Are you overreacting? Yes.

Was the 'offer' massively insensitive given what you were selling? Yes.

Hope you're ok. Yell if you want either thread closing.

I will give you nought pounds and you can marry me. How's that sound?

Quick, Houns! He is vulnerable, and on the rebound. GO IN FOR THE KiLL!

Houns, he's really got the measure of you, eh? 😉

I've had some offers for stuff that I've been selling lately that have been, frankly, utter bullocks. People are trying their luck with stuff and really you should just hold out for what you want. I don't know what goes through someone's head when they ask to buy something for half of what you've advertised it for, but it is a waste of everyone's time, so just don't do it.

I threw my engagement ring into a tarn on the hills above my town - most satisfying thing i did in regards to that bit of jewellery!

My dad died when i was six years old and he left me a rose gold signet ring.. I took it to the pawnbrokers when i was fourteen and short of hash and was offered the princely sum of £12..

I took the cash

Don't beat yourself up about that. It's just gold.

Best bit of advice my late Dad ever gave me was, "**** 'em all bar four. They can carry the stretcher".

It's just stuff Bearneccesities, it's just stuff. It has a lot of emotional value at the moment maybe. But I'd take the £400 I think. Get rid of the thing and move on.

This reminds me a time when I went for a dip in a small mountain lake on holiday up north a few years and put my hand on an engagement ring. It looked pretty new so I wiped it off and sold it to a jeweller the day I got back - result! Paid for my whole trip and m next banger!

Actually, given the apparent depreciation these things go through, thats a pretty sensible idea.
