[#9708912]

Judge me. I deserve it!

I really am the most petty SOB on existence aren't I?

I don't mean I break highway code etc,I just mean if giving way is optional, well, I don't.

I attempt to justify it by seemingly noticing** Beemer drivers don't feel the need to use indicators and always seem to be the cars merging on the right when a dual turns to a single lane...whilst Not indicating to merge... I have other reasons too but they are even more petty!

Pretty ridiculous to be honest right?

Strangely,I don't have problems with Audi's or other makes.

Oh apart from some 4x4's of any brand that seem to have proxy BMW drivers in them.

** I have no data to back up my lunacy.

What’s existence.

Is it a new type of benefit ?

You’re not alone Poop. If anything I am worse than you. I don’t give way to BMW’s, Audi’s, buses or taxis. No idea why (well, apart from taxis, they can **** right off)

Edit - the worst ones are the bastards that push their way out of junctions and then wave like you let them out. I once called the bluff of a lady that did this. She reversed back in to the side road and bumped the car waiting patiently behind her. I was happy for the rest of the day.

I drive a Vauxhall vectra (the wife’s) or ride a bike

Oh God please no.

It's a Superb, of course.

I drive an Agila rocking a throaty 1.0L engine. Yet more shame I know! 😀

Good on fuel though and no one nicks the steering wheels from them for obvious reasons!

If I've ever not given way to you it's more of a reflection on me than you bud. 😀

I actually got rid of my Audi because of the way they are driven, I had a 1.6 TDI so couldn’t race anything.
Now I drive a VW and treat BMW,AUDI, TAXIs and people that try to push in or force their way through gaps the same as you.

The Touareg that I drove for just over a year was quite possibly the nicest vehicle I have owned ..but ultimately too rich for my blood to maintain £2000 in tyres alone!
Not all 4×4 drivers are discourteous ..ultimately though I had bought it because of our rural setting and thought it would be good in winter ..it was crap ..

You shouldn't be jealous of people who own cars that they can enjoy driving. 🙂

You're not alone.

I once had a big E-class Merc as a company car (it previously belonged to a director who got a new car and returned it to the pool, I got lucky). I quickly found that no-one ever gives you a break. People will deliberately accelerate to close gaps rather than let you out. In the end the only way I could get anywhere was to drive to the stereotype, barge my way in and not indicate as it just tips people off. You complain about BMW drivers never indicating, you've only got yourselves to blame I'm afraid.

Can't say I have been treated any differently when driving my BMW compared to any other cars. Drive normally, get treated normally. Life is far too short to have to work out what car is up ahead in case I need to get angry at it.

To be fair, that was evident on the Ling thread.

When you buy German you have privileged access to roads. It's about time the jealous peasants understood this.

Is it a 1-series? I never had much bother when I had one either.

It's definitely a thing. I saw a similar phenomenon when I was given a godawful Micra as a (dis)courtesy car. No-one ever gives way to you, you just get bullied off the road.

Range Rovers for me.

Bullying is a real thing. My daughter has had a few frightening experiences being intimidated by big strong men types for having the audacity to drive at 30 in a 30. My son less so, even though he drives just as slowly with an insurance black box. He is around 6ft tall and well build though. Funny that.

It was just an observation. You went off the deep end a bit on that thread in my humble opinion. Those actions led me to believe you might be a touch petty.

But then we all are to a certain degree.

Absolutely, it's a self fulfilling prophecy! That's what gets me,I should know better. Life is too short as someone has said. 🙂

where the hate coming from beemer drivers? I notice this everyday in the motorway where i'm just cruising behind (safe distance) to a lorry, just chilling/killing time really and listening to old music and plenty of cars hesitant to overtake .. i think they are thinking I will just move to their lane without indicating 😐 very strange

btw, what is this stick that has arrow sign in my steering wheel, I have it since new.. salesman clueless as well, might just leave it then 🙄

I drive a 4wd BMW, live just SW of London and ride an Orange. The majority of Stw must have it in for me.

Btw, we do indicate, it’s just that in BMW’s if you tap the indicator you get a short burst rather than a light that flashes until you turn it off (available for a firmer push), so you’ve probably just missed it. At least that’s outlr excuse.

+100. I used to own a lifted Hilux, the same time my wife had one of the mk2 or mk3 Clios. Switching between vehicles on the same roads, often on the same day and got treated completely differently. If you drive a little car more people will try to bully and intimidate you and take extreme liberties.

Yes, I'd go further and say judgemental and idiotic. The make of a vehicle does not define the attitude of the driver.

Although it does in your case.

I can out petty even the OP.
I will almost never give away my RoW. Very rarely break my rule for drivers I feel sorry for or any motorcyclist of cyclist.
Even more petty and sad is that I won't accept others giving up their RoW for me. You know the types. They approach from the left at a T junction when you are coming up the stem. They want to cut the corner so flash you out. As neither is correct I sit tight.
My justification is that if we all do things by the book then there will be less accidents and if going by the book you cannot be wrong. Anything Germanic usually gets special treatment as they are invariably driven faster than the speed limit and any commercial drivers also get the treatment.
I'm a miserable sod. 🙂

Probably got let out the most in the Jag.
People assume you're a doddery old bastard that hasn't seen you and will probably pull out anyway so tend to give you a wide berth. 😆

Didn't have a problem with getting out of junctions in the M5, just mash the loud pedal and smoke off into the distance. 😀

Had a 20yr old 1.3 Auto Micra which was also quite good.
Only 75Hp but not much more than half the weight of a *Renault Zoe so 0-40 was surprisingly quick.

* 😉

you just get bullied off the road.

This is absolutely true!

My chavtastic Golf GTi was in for a service the other week so I borrowed Mrs Binners ickle Hyundai. I couldn't believe the difference in attitude from other drivers. And not in a good way. Proper nasty in fact. Tailgating you, cutting you up. Gave me a totally different perspective on driving. 🙁

Must be different in other parts of the country, but round here shit driving isn't specific to any particular make of car.

I'll just wade in and suggest it's an evidence based observation, rather than a poop.

Still though, classic ten pager in the making.

No I just read your post. You seem to feel its ok to be rude and obnoxious, or not offer any assistance to anybody based on the make of their vehicle.

Doesn't paint you in a particularly good light does it, but thats all I have to go on.

Yep, never give way to the sort of car a **** might drive. Usually give way to vans, taxis etc as they are going about useful business. And what kind of **** doesn’t give way to buses?!

Interestingly since swapping my car for a van, driving has become way less stressful! More people give way (especially other vans) and in turn I give way to more people. Of course sometimes I just drive out into traffic, but then you’re allowed to in a van aren’t you? 😀 Plus you generally win any kind of standoff situation.

I've had a couple of BMWs as company cars. The indicator arms work in a weird way and are very infuriating. made me wonder if people who have them long term just give up using indicators out of anger.
