If we have loads of Spotify premium users could we create a stw play list? Public play list and we could all add 5 songs. Might discover an old gem or a new band you'd never heard

Good idea, no idea how you do that though

Just a tip, go into settings and enable the higher quality streaming.

Where are the settings - I can't find them anywhere?

I work from home at least 2 days a week, so listen to spotify almost constantly for 9-10 hours at a stretch. Thing I've found that always ends up winding me up with radio, and it's true of all of them even R6, is that they don't actually play that much music. It sort of goes: inane chat, music inane chat, link to upcoming pogramme, advert for some non related show, music, news (same news you've heard 3 times already), inane chat with guest, music....and on and on.

spotify premium; just music, just music i've chosen, and nuttin else. Joy.

Got the 99p for 3 months offer & I do use it a lot,if it was £5 a month I would take it up without hesitation, but at £10 I am not sure if I would get my moneys worth.

i see where youre coming from, but for me i actually enjoy a lot of the 'inane chat'. especially radcliffe and maconie, steve lamaq and marc riley. sometimes R&M actually have me laughing out loud, my sort of humour i spose 🙂

and id agree with that too. there are enough shows im not too bothered about that id be happy to play a few albums on spotify if it were cheaper. unfortunately as an existing (free) customer i dont think i can get the 99p offer to try it out, but at a fiver i think id pay up. tenner to me is just a bit too much when i consider how i try and cut monthly costs elsewhere. and yes im sure you could make a case for how i probably waste a tenner on other stuff, but you know what i mean.... 🙂

Just a thought regarding offline content - if you were to download from Spotify to a particular device and then turn off all data connections, how would said device/Spotify know if you were still a subscriber?

30 days.

Isn't everything on Spotify also on Youtube? You can build up the same playlists and get recommended similar tracks. Plus you get music videos and it's free. You also get to pick from many versions of the same track recorded live.

haha, just taken advantage of the free for 30 days trial, so am currently blasting out cockney rejects from my squeezebox 😀

i can search, and control it from my android phone through the logitech app, so i thought itd be the same with my chromebook, just download the app. doesnt seem to be available tho. am i missing somethings or is it a phone app only?
i got the spotify app on chromebook, but obviously if i use that then im just playing something totally separate on my chromebook to the squeezebox/hifi.

thanks

IIRC when you've logged more than one device onto Spotify you can control the whole network from whichever smartphone/tablet/laptop you would prefer, just activate the app and it will ask whether you want to take control of another device. Really pisses the misses off when I do that to her. 😈

yup, but i cant get a logitech app onto my chromebook in the first place. app is there in play store on my phone, but it doesnt seem available on chromebook which seems strange.

i can access spotify on the chromebook, but no logitech 'remote' app so i can take over the squeezebox....

EDIT: might have it sussed. ive gone to the 'mysqueezebox.com' web page and logged in. it would appear that i can take it over from there.

ok, forgive me for possibly being a bit daft, but isnt spotify sposed to have just about everything available, unless a band forbid it, (such as the beatles IIRC)

just browsing through old punk stuff this morning, and 2 searches were fruitless. firstly crass. ok ill maybe accept that theyre the sort of band who may ban spotify from using any of their stuff, but then again, so are loads of other bands too who are probably still available?

and secondly, i thought id listen to killing jokes pandemonium. did a search and theres loads of KJ albums but not that one.

like i say, am i being a bit daft? am i missing something? ive tried these searches on the spotify website, the squeezebox app, and my phone app too just to see if it was some anomoly, but it doesnt appear to be.

is there a fair bit of stuff that spotify cant play for any reason?

I can get crass, sure you can't?

sometimes albums aren't available, fer instance radiohead's back cataloge is on there but you won't find In Rainbows as it was a direct release

just had another go and it comes up with their name, but if i click 'albums' theres just stuff like 'jeffrey lee pierce sings crass songs' etc, no actual albums. are you getting their albums on display?

and can you get KJ pandemonium?

thanks

Yeah sorry, I didn't look properly, there's no real crass stuff.

Can't see that particular album, but there's lots of other killing joke stuff.

Here you go, BUT one very basic rule - no criticism of listing. This listing is open to any Genre of music.

On Android at any rate (Laptop is similar IIRC), touch the top left of the screen you'll see three horizontal lines, tap that and it will open Search/Browse/Activity etc and Settings is the bottom option, tap that and scroll down to Music Quality

Not many takers for the "free for all" playlisting.

have been trialling the premium free for a week or so now, so a couple of questions which may decide whether i stick with it or not please.....

im using a chromebook and squeezebox, and the only way i can find to play music through my speakers is through the 'mysqueezebox.com' remote control player (in essence a web page), but its very limited, no playlists as such, just 'search', 'whats new' and 'starred'. its ok for playing the odd album i think of there and then, but not for compiling playlists.
is there a way of playing spotify through my hifi without a hard drive running a server or anything?
yes i could open the spotify app on my chromebook, but then thatd just play music through my chromebook tinny speakers. id like to play whatever i want through the hifi and control it with the dedicated spotify app.

playing music in my car would be a big bonus. i dont have unlimited data on my phone, so i assume most people are downloading music to play 'offline' in their cars? so are you plugging your phone into aux and then just opening spotify app and selecting playlists offline?

thanks
