Huddersfield Odeon now sells tickets at the concession stands rather than an actual ticket sales point/box office. Last time we went I joined the shortest queue (of two people) to get ours

Always book online, then just pick up your tickets at the machine in the foyer and stroll past all that nonsense with your man-bag full of monster munch and fizzy pop. Time it exactly half an hour after the advertised start time for the film, thus avoiding all the adverts

You're welcome 😀

In which case you'd best prepare to get unceremoniously bent over for drinks and popcorn

or take your own sandwiches/food in a Tesco bag

They removed those dinky ashtrays too. And the Wurlitzer dude who occasionally grinned triumphantly over his shoulder when pulling all the stops out.

Gone.

And those nice people with red torches. I think.

Now it's just the CGI and mono-tone-olithic acting. Take some vibratey-pants.

No, you get adverts for the cinema that you are already sat in and for the sound system in the cinema that you can already hear. The sound adverts are for some reason designed to burst your eardrums and irritate the fudge out of you.

I’m irritated by people in general, so it should be a smooth transistion.

It’s a serious point. I stopped going the cinema, mainly as local cinema had crap screens, sound bleed and uncomfortable seats, but also as it only took one nob talking/eating etc to ruin a film experience. I guess now with mobile phones it’s even more of an issue.

As a hangover from my (hungover) student days my strong preference for watching films is early in the day. 99% of the time you get an empty cinema to yourself or one or two like minded individuals. Maybe the odd pensioner.

Getting the whole screen to yourself feels great and you don't have to worry about people and the dilemas they present.

If it's three hours long there must be an interval with that nice young lady selling ice cream tubs with little wooden spoon?

I think it was on Kermode’s 5Live show, but someone wrote it to say a couple next to them in the cinema started unpacking a Chinese takeaway once seated.

Last time i went to the cinema was to see Quantum of Solace and that was in 2008! No strange coincidence that my eldest was born that year.

You can only have sex if it involves Bondage?

I was actually wondering what his missus was up to while he was at the cinema.
