[#3195228]

Up until two days ago, I was happily syncing my Desire with my Outlook calendar on the laptop with no worries. Then the sync software wanted to update, and now it just doesn't work.

There used to be a dropdown menu in the 'calendar' setting which allowed you to choose which calendar on the computer to sync with (Windows, Outlook, Google etc). Now there's only the Windows option.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling, tried running it without the update - no joy. It's driving me mental!! Perhaps there's a setting on the phone I need to change? Any ideas anyone? Please?

Can't really help you, as I'm not sure I understand it either - but if anyone can explain the sync issues (android forums I've searched are a bit vague too, seemingly google want you to sync it all via them ... ?) then I too have a query - events added in my outlook calendar update the phone no problem, but events added in the phone don't go the other way ?

apologies for butting in ! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Have you got sync going both ways? I have it set to only go from phone to pc but the bloody thing syncs both ways so I end up with multiple contacts of the same...it isn't a great system.

I can confirm that HTC's help line is utterly hopeless, "Er, um, I don't really know anything about computers..."

Orange not helping either, but at least the guy I spoke to spoke English.

After multiple installs and reinstalls I'm completely stuck. The only guys who seem to have sorted this issue were the guys doing something daft already (not using a USB2 port etc.).

It's extremely annoying as I use my phone calendar all the time to help run my photography business. Just very frustrated and peeved with nowhere left to turn.

I remeber having these issues five years ago with my first ever smartphone - you'd think they'd have sorted it by now FFS!!!! How hard can it be?

Firewall/AV issue?

Are you using HTC Sync software over the USB connection?

Have you looked through these:

Another possible solution/workaround:

The Desire syncs very effectively over the air with Google calendar.

If you install an app on the laptop that will sync Google calendar and Outlook, then you won't need to use the HTC sync software at all and both phone and Outlook should update automatically.

I used to do this, but just switched entirely to using Google calendar via a web browser so no syncing issues at all.

Sadly, my old copy of Outlook isn't supported by the Google app. If I just stop using Outlook's calendar altogether, and start using a Google calendar, is there a way to just sync straight from my phone to the Google calendar (and vice-versa)?

TBH, it's the best solution. It's what I've done for months, years even, now. Plugging a phone in to sync it is very 20th century. (-:

Add your google account to the phone and it'll sync calendar and contacts automatically.

For Google <-> Outlook I use GSyncit.

Done that Cougar - and set up mobile notifications too, but how do you actually get the two to sync info? (Sorry for hand-holding request) ๐Ÿ˜ณ

Menu > Settings > Accounts and Sync

Make sure Google is checked.

Click Google again and you can select to sync Docs, Notifications, contacts, Gmail and Calender.

That's it, everything selected will sync between Google and your phone.

Then, to access your content, just make sure you log in to Google via a browser with the same username you use for your phone.

I had this problem too and the solution was install HTC Sync and Adobe Air then reinstall HTC Sync which install Adobe Air at the same time.

Gravity-slave - thanks but for whatever reason, it syncs contacts and Gmail, then dies on its @rse when trying to sync the calendar. Just freezes up ๐Ÿ™

Craig - I've installed and uninstalled it several times and have decided to go down the Google route (if I can get it working!). Have Adobe Air installed already...

Quick edit; I put a test appt in my otherwise empty Google calendar on the laptop and it synced to my phone. Nothing the other way though...

Uninstall Adobe Air then reinstall HTC sync. Apparently latest sync version doesn't work with Adobe air so remove air an reinstall sync.

๐Ÿ˜ฅ Ok thanks - will try... Really pissed off with the whole malarkey now and seriously thinking of going back to faultless Backberry - would miss Google Skymap app though.

Thanks all for help.
