Pointless weighing yourself every morning..
Are you paranoid or something ?
Even when in competition I never weighed myself, thou can tell how heavy you see by how much fat wubbles and how tight your belt is no?

Not sure how paranoia is relevant but it's nice to be able to see the effects of the previous day on your body weight. Then again I also monitor my blood glucose 6 times a day so measuring is just a part of life.
never - unless i see scales then i cloth off and weigh myself. my weight varies little each time; though i think its an excuse for me to get naked(ish)
Probably not weighed myself for about 10 years until last year when I have been on the scales a few times to help measure the weight of my 2 year old son at hospitals.
For the weight weenies, surely you have to have a dump, pee and tommy tank before going on the scales to get your true weight?
my missus weighs herself every morning and she also has a maximum weight that when she reaches she focuses on her calorie intake for as long as possible till she is back to 'acceptable'
i weigh myself not more than once a week
At least every other day - weight, BMI, body fat % as well as blood pressure and resting HR. Pure data geekery rather than any pressing desire to obsess over .5kg here or there - vicarious pleasure from being able to track progress (have been doing since September last year)...
Hey I'm not saying don't, just if you do this every morning then surely each incremental movement in weight will be logged and noted and fretted (or celebrated) upon.
And we all nkow that our bodies hold onto stuff/get rid of stuff as and when it decideds, we're not really in control of it are we.
And that means you'll be freeking out over either a tiny loss or no loss at all or gowd forbid if you put weight on..
Don't get me wrong, back in my racing days I used to panic over weight, we all did, carting around a few kilos more than your next competitor was frownd upon and we all weighed 65-75kgs back then..
I'm glad I don't live in those times anymore.
But.. with sensible management you can maintain a healthy outlook and waistline without bouncing on your scales like they are a garden trampoliine.
Chill out fellas.

And that's why you're banned from Homebase.
Dunno when I last weighed myself. It may or may not have been this century. Don't see the point

They sell scales in Homebase?

You've a graph of your weight fluctuations over an 18 month period? 😯
You've a graph of your weight fluctuations over an 18 month period?
Yup, the scale does it automatically and you can see the graph online. What's not to love?
WOW! I love graphs!
I'm taking part in a medical study about diabetes this week... proper Dexa measurements etc. May have to invest in some fancy scales to see how accurate they are.
All the time, until gf binned them 😕
I weigh myself every day because I have been on a diet since the start of the year. I have gone from 99.5kg on 01/01 and today for the first time I weighed in at sub 80kg. Result. 5kg to go. (yeah, I was a chubber 6 months ago)
My GF is currently obsessed with losing weight but hates getting on the scales. I think if you have a considerable amount of your confidence and self worth tied up in your body image then you are much more likely to react badly if you have gained a few grammes but for someone who is genuinely trying to lose weight in a relatively scientific manor, a daily weigh in is a great idea and a good indicator of whether you are doing it right.
Don't sweat the variances, it's good to see the trend.
Are the body fat readings on scales like these accurate enough to be worthwhile?
Accurate to themselves.
Are the body fat readings on scales like these accurate enough to be worthwhile?
Nope.
Are the body fat readings on scales like these accurate enough to be worthwhile?
I only believe it if I average it over a few weeks and I only believe the change rather than the absolute number. My long-term trend looks right to me but the day-to-day fluctuations can be anywhere between 13% and 15%

At work I have access to very accurate DXA body fat measuremnent, depending on the settings I dial in on my scales I can be either 23% or 12%, my work measurement is around 15%

this, i believe, deserves some acknowledgement.
well done sir!
ahwhiles +1... Torm, well done old bean... you must be flying on the bike!!
That is good going, I've gone form 88kg to 75kg since September hrough being really very unwell 🙂
Thanks chaps!

relevant, found today. Who was it?[/url]
Is it really neive to say " what's the point?"
You are who you are! End of story! beauty lies beneath - the sooner people realise this and BELIEVE it the BETTER!
Fed up with this worLd being so cliche in their 'make-up'. We ALL look beautiful, no matter what!
(so there!)
MOST INTERESTING MAN IN THE WORLD is very funny! And i cant spell neive NAIVE!
... what have you been smoking?Beauty lies beneath
My beautifully sculpted abs make up for the fact that I'm a total ****.
Anyway, who are you solarpowered?
We ALL look beautiful, no matter what!
You've clearly never been to Hatfield.
Dunno about the whole "you are what you are no matter what" type thing, I feel like I've changed loads personality wise since losing a load of weight. More confidence, more positive, more willing to do new things etc.

Seeing as my weight seems to fluctuate vaguely sinusoidaly throughout the day and can change day on day by a notable amount on top of that, I tend to go down a vaguely nyquist-shannon route of at least twice the frequency of the fastest variation (Which is normally the daily variation) - so twice a day, usually at the same time. I then add in some sporadic measurements to be sure. This way I can re-construct my weight fluctuations fairly well.
Never weigh myself. I wear relatively slim t shirts and shirts so it becomes obvious to me when I need to lay off the food and wine for a bit!
Occasionaly
Some days during the week, and always Sunday morning before going riding (Sunday's also the eating day, so it's effectively the end of the "dieting" part of the week).
I ought probably to note these things down, but at 6.30 on Sunday morning I'm thinking more about getting out of the house to maximise riding, not making notes of my weight..!
Weekly weigh-in every weekend here. Since ditching the refined sugar (and now paying attention to portion size) I've lost 7 lbs in 2 weeks. Another 14 lb to lose and I'll be back to my fighting weight. Grrr.
... what have you been smoking? My beautifully sculpted abs make up for the fact that I'm a total *.
Don't smoke (any more :-)) And surely, 'sculpted abs' don't make up for being a total *, do they?
Oh yes, and i am a person that it's strangely over the moon for 'over taking' someone for the first time this morning on my bike! 😀 think you call that 'being chicked'?? Happy, happy, happy!
think you call that 'being chicked'
Then I feel obliged to point out that I 'geezered' a couple of lasses this morning, and those lasses were fit. 😀
I think you've scored TSY... 😛
Every day at the same time (first thing in the morning). I'm aware of weight fluctuations over the day / between days, so it's more a way of tracking a trend than knowing which size trousers to wear that day.
Graphs you say? 😀
August 2011 I was on two hot meals a day. Not ideal 😈

Where did you get those graphs??
Do you think measuring your weight so often is helping??
Everyday - you can definitely see the effect of eating snacks, having early/late evening meals, etc.
I should have lost 1/2lb yesterday based on a normal workday, but I snuffled half a bag of wine gums when I got home and therefore didn't.
See, the strange thing is my weight fluctuates lower on days when I binge on chocolate late the prior evening.
