Same as @cookeaa. Much more often than I used to, and very little on any political thread after the "sea-lion" in chief" rocks up.

I nearly started the same topic a few weeks ago but deleted it/ didn't hit post.

I must write +10 posts with actually posting.
TBH I'm struggling with this place in general from the thread derailment by the usual mad tin foil hatters to the virtuous masses belittling anything that requires car, money, going to work.

Shame really as the forum has some really good elements when people are finding life difficult.

I find it easier to like a similar post to mine than go through the rigmarole of posting my own slightly different version of what has already been said, to people who will rarely change their minds.

For a long time I just stuck to the bike forum, but in the last few years I have drifted into the chat bit, and of course the politically focussed threads.

I will say this, those complaints about threads where opposing views and a bit of passion on the topic emerge, what would you prefer instead? Zero debate/arguments/conflict? That just sounds a bit empty and vapid.

It's probably better to just click on the bike forum if you're not a fan of debate and/or being challenged.

I love debate, just don't see it very often on here.

I'm less of a fan of faux outrage, points scoring, ad hominems and intractable positions.

If I thought it might get a funny response from PerchyPanther I’d post

Never gonna happen. I’m not as funny as I used to be.

I don’t do it often on here, but I find myself doing it loads on Facebook. I usually stop myself when I realise the post I am replying to is littered with spelling and grammatical errors.

Those damn dyslexics making the place look untidy.

How dare they exist.

As a sidebar there might be a reason why some people call this place 'The Same Ten W*****s'.

Big Hitters ruin this forum - can they not have their own area like bike/chat/news/members/women...bighitters etc?

That took a little longer than I thought🙄. Now was that simply taken out of context and was it a humorous dig at the pedants who often pop up, or was it a genuine irritation? It triggered responses, whatever. This is the sort of reaction which makes people reluctant to post, because it is difficult to judge context.

I think its more a case of there being more contributors with a wider range of views as opposed to threads being dominated by a small number of contributors and fewer views.

Never gonna happen of course, as in practice its as much about who is willing to contribute the most time than it is about genuine debate.

Agree completely with this. 👆🏻

However,

It’s probably better to just click on the bike forum if you’re not a fan of debate and/or being challenged

You see, this is exactly what people are talking about; at best it’s pretty exclusionary, at worst it’s a passive aggressive **** off tablet. That is, how that reads to me is unless you’re up for some high brow, high moral & earnest debate wherein you WILL be educated by those with superior intellect, then you’re not welcome.

It wasn't meant as a dig at dyslexics, I guess my intended message was lost in translation. Apologies if I inadvertently offended anyone.
