I agree with the concept of slave labour but the build time and quality would be way off what is needed. Slave labour is only good in simple construction and if there is one thing that the Death Star is not it's simple. Robots all the way I think.
Death Stars are boring.
What you need is an Orbital
why on earth would you take your own planet's core to build a death star? You'd pillage somebody elses. Plus obviously you'd enslave some people to build it for you.
Imagine how many delivery ships you'd need every day to supply a death star..... It would be a constant stream of ships with food, water, condoms, those little things you rest your wrists on when using a computer, pencils, leather chaps... the list goes on and on.
And you'd have to leach every planet you came near to achieve this. You certainly wouldn't go around blowing them up, they're generally full of resources and ladies. Blowing them up before stripping them bare makes no sense.
Just imagine how long it would take to print off the plans, let alone design the thing. A lot would be modular construction, but even so you're talking about a lot of drawing. Just think how much RAM and processor speed you'd need for your computer to render the thing in CAD.
It's getting planning permission that'll really slow you down.

Orbital's are for losers, what you need is a Dyson Sphere.
Apart from [url=
2 which is ace.
The death star may be one thing but imagine the size of the hanger it would need to be made in! No that would be expensive
Magrathea has one.
Anyway - it's only marginally more expensive than the Lego one.
Those Dyson sphere's are awsome! Who'd have thought it,..from vacuum cleaners to those 😯
He's a proper clever dicky innit,...
We are limited by what we think is possible with our technology at our time. Usining Von Nueman nano seeds we could send thousands into the astroid belt and just wait a while...
