[#10547387]

Following on from the men with jewellery thread, a few have commented on watches. I have 1 watch, a g-shock that my mum and dad bought for me for my 40th birthday. I do have a smart watch too, but I keep forgetting to charge it so never really wear it.

How many watches do you own?

Seiko 5 dress watch, automatic with day/date, brushed stainless steel case and strap.

Seiko SKX007 diver, automatic with day/date, on a NATO strap, also have the steel strap (and rubber strap I think)

Seiko Sportsmaster dress watch from the '60s, automatic with day/date, black leather strap

Octagonal-faced Raketa dress watch, manual with day/date (day in Cyrillic alphabet), on a black leather strap

Circular-faced Raketa dress watch, manual, on a brown leather strap

Casio F91-W indestructo-digital

And always on the look out for more, especially cool old Seikos

A smart TAG Heuer for posh wear.
A Vivoactive to record my foot based activities.
A Casio to wear on the bike and less posh than the TAG.
A battered old Seiko to wear when working.

A few, none pricey, just ones I like the look of and go with different colours/looks. 2 Swatches, 1 baby G, Rotary all-black steel watch, Seiko gold one and a Shimano diver style one.

I was gutted that I couldn't get my dad's 50s Certina serviced.

My Dad's Citizen Eco-Drive.

12 - 3 properly expensive that only get worn for occasions, 4 moderately expensive that are more office wear (e.g. Tissot racing touch, a Stowa Marine), then 2 Seiko 5s, an Akteo with a little cyclist on it, a Tissot PR100 and a Citizen Ti Eco-Drive. These get worn fairly randomly depending on mood.

Far too many...
Rolex Submariner
Doxa Sub 750t
Newmark 6BB Chrono
Precista PRS18
Precista PRS17
CWC G10
Smith's Seafire
Seiko SKX007
Seiko Solar Tuna
Seiko 6309-7040
Seiko 7002-700J
Tag F1 Chrono
Casio Baby-G
TomTom Spark

And my very first watch that my dad got me back in the late 70's - a Services manual wind.

four-

Tag Heuer Monaco, bought for me by my wife as an engagement gift. Worn most days to work

Panerai Luminor, bought by me for me, one year when bonus was particularly good. Not worn regularly but it's a great piece of engineering to look at.

Seiko Automatic Divers watch, bought by me about fifteen years ago as an everyday go anywhere watch. It's still keeping great time and has never been serviced

Garmin Forerunner, bought by me when I was kidding myself that I needed that kind of data gathering watch to make exercise worthwile

Erm ..
Seiko 5 automatic
Seiko Prospex automatic
Rohan quartz
G-Shock solar/wave ceptor
Garmin Forerunner

So 5, but non are expensive. All get worn bar the Garmin. Plus a Mi Band 2, but I don't class that as a watch and wear that all the time on my other wrist.

None that work

I have my grandads old timex and several broken pocket watches. I cannot wear or carry watches - they stop within a day of me carrying them

One or two, let me think...
G-Shock - tough, solar powered beater.
Seiko Skx 009 - none too flashy auto
Tissot PR200 - 18th birthday present
Tissot PRS200 - bought with my first bonus
Tissot something else - engagement present
Tag Formula 1 GMT - bought with my first bonus at my new job
Tag Link - 30th birthday present
Chrtopher Ward something - treat to myself as I liked it and CW was cheaper then
Garmin Forerunner 35 - for running

So 9 then. At least 1 is getting sold soon as I have my eyes on something. Ew and Breitling based.

Not too many...

Tag Diver Automatic. Loses time, costs too much to service, sits in drawer
A Garmin GPS watch. Never used
A Suunto Stinger diver computer/watch - more computer than watch, not an everyday thing.
Seiko Pepsi Automatic - an everyday watch which I was wearing until I got...
An Apple Watch - used everyday.

1 a vivoactive, until smart watches and wearable fitness stuff it was zero, utterly pointless in the modern world 😉

I forgot..
I have a silver pocket watch on a proper "Albert" style chain. Every link and every bit of the watch are Hallmarked in 1911.
My grandfather was Lord Astor's batman in WW1, and was given this watch as a thank you present.
Works perfectly but absolutely no value. Suppose I should weigh it in.

One, a Casio. The last time I used it was to time a video in some petty squabble on this very forum. Prior to that it was when I needed to know the time (rare) but was afraid of getting my phone wet so took the watch rather than the phone.

2...

An MWC G10 - it tells the time, which is exactly the one function a watch should do

A Polar GPS watch - does the job of a bike computer when I go hiking, as well as biking, and saves me needing a mount on all 5 bikes.

Don't care about bling or anything. A watch is for telling the time.

One vaguely smart analogue watch which I've not worn in 5 years or more. Don't really see any need to have a watch these days..

A Nautilus quartz Hamilton looky likey which my wife bought me years ago and I really like but it’s fairly knackered now - wear it when riding.

Blooming loads,

Got given a Xiaomi mi3 smart watch with a new phone last week, got great battery life for a smarts, 20+ days which suits me fine.

Pebble smart watch picked up for £15 off Facebook marketplace.

Seiko Pepsi, my usual wear.

Avi-8 Hurricane which my better half bought me as a present, doesn't keep good time though.

IWC copy that by Dad bought me from somewhere Dodgy

Citizen automatics again just nice daily watch.

A Tag which is lovely but too nice to wear.

A Tudor which was my father's graduation present, love it.

Plus another 20 or so odd watches which my Father picked up over the years.
