Looking at the election maps got me thinking about how little of America many of us over here have seen/experienced first hand. My list as follows,
New York
Washington
Delaware
Maryland
Tennesee
Georgia
California
Montana
Nevada
Minnesota
Illinois
Florida
Texas
Massachusetts
(Does DC count?)

Yes, DC counts. Technically I've been to Utah and Minnesota, but 7 or 8 hours in SLC and MSP aiports staring longinly at the surroundings doesn't really count.

Florida (for the rides), and I visited NY, Boston, San Fran and Washington (city) on a long holiday, before we swapped disposable income for children.

I assume that that's 5 states.

I'd love to see more, in case anyone's interested in sponsoring me. I was talking to a lady over lunch last week who took her children out of school for a year and travelled across the US. The went to each state except for Idaho and Hawaii in a big campervan. It made me very jealous.

Plus Illinois & Texas if you include flight transfers, technically I'd entered the USA to get an internal flight.

It's a big country

All of them bar Hawaii, Maine, Vermont and Rhode Island.

Not 100% sure about Tennessee but I think so. Spent 6 weeks delivering cars so it got a bit blurry.

California
Texas
Louisiana
North Carolina
New Jersey
Massachusetts

But they all look alike. They look like the inside of a taxi, or the inside of a hotel, or the inside of an office, or the realization of a life wasted.

Which is why I always now bring my bike.

But one of those is only because Kansas City Airport (and indeed most of Kansas City) is actually in Missouri, not Kansas.

Florida and Philly being the others.

Also been to 3 Canadian Provinces. And one South American overseas department of France.

Just one. Illinois. More specifically, a little town near Chicago called Gurnee where a company I worked for had an outpost....

That's it. Bit rubbish.

I'm no fan of American-ness, however the scenery is undeniably amazing and it's all extremely accessible.

I lived in Florida from the age of 8mths to 18yrs.

Up near Lake Okeechobee in Fort Lauderdale, playing and sailing the creaks and waterways will be with me forever.

Spectacular place, fabulous people.
