and does the one sport keep you fit for riding or the other way around?
(I only mountain bike but hear other people chatting about squash etc being the be all and end all of keeping fit)
swimmming, running, circuit training, hiking - if you can call hiking sport, more like an activity. Just like the variety really, I'd get bored if I only did one thing all the time.

For most folk, cycling is an activity, not a sport.
Five-a-side strip mountaineering
hockey, dinghy sailing and cricket are my others. Nice variety IMO
Surf a lot, run a lot, do weights, swim in open water, hike/walk. All helps cycling IMO.
Midget tossing.

Hmm.
+1 for Midget tossing.
I always do it alone though.
power kiting (1.8, 3.5 & 5.6M kites), Target rifle (10m air and HFT), Skiing
Cricket, used to do quite a bit of snowboarding but not been in a while, been thinking about going rock climbing.
Oh, and quite partial to a bit of horizontal jogging whenever possible! ๐
Bike polo. Good for improving bike handling skills.
As the onion says. Personally I ride bikes* for fun. I used to play hockey for sport.
* some mtbs, some road, some for commuting, some for shopping and another for the pub. Bikes are ace, but dont have to have fitness Nazism at their root. Leave that to pilates.
Football, golf, climbing/mountaineering, skiing, and bare bum boxing (just to keep the innuendo theme going!
Running for fitness Nazism. Mountain bike for shits and giggles. Roadie for winter
Rugby league, swimming, badminton and weights
I cannot help but see MB as a sport - MB has its proffesionals?
RB has its proffesionals and both are represented at olympic level?
wierd that the lower echelons of biking are called pastimes..
Judo since I was a nipper. Great for learning how to fall off without hurting yourself when you land.
Football. It hurts commuting the next day! But the riding makes me fitter for the football.
Sunday morning football, long distance walking (is that a sport?!), cricket and skiing.
climbing, running (for fitness), mountaineering. bit of road in winter
Rare snowboarding, running and hockey.
Don't help at all w cycling, and any fule no that the besht way to train for riding is riding.
Aikido, like the judo above, helps with the falling off. Helps with the balance and good thigh muscles as well.
Darts for eye hand co-ordiantion, great on the technical downhills.
Kites, wakeboarding, skiing, sailing, shooting, fishing, squash, tennis and fornication.
Used to do a fair bit of climbing, hardly any these days though. Still do some running. This was the best though:

(coming off the old slalom course on Windermere).
Then the killjoys banned it on Windermere, haven't done waterskiing for ages now either. ๐
Crazy, you're board's on the wrong way round! ๐
keen golfer, golf has priority over MTBing tbh,
road cycling is for fitness mountain bike is for yipeeeing !
badminton, squash, tennis, football, rounders, basketball, volleyball anything really.
im up for playing any sport tbh, think i can pick anything up pretty easily,
climbing, running
I agree with the above, I cycle for fun, fitness is just a side effect.
I swim a bit as well but only when I can't go out cycling for some reason. Only do a mile or so at a time now too.

Is walking a sport?
You can get a gold medal at the olympics for it.
must be a sport then.
- If we cycle for fun - why not just go buy a halfords special?I agree with the above, I cycle for fun, fitness is just a side effect.
Our cycling for fun seems to cost serious money ๐

you've clearly never examined my bike history. ๐
5 a side (keeper) squash, cricket, badders, love to ski/snowboard again but large family stopped that!!
odd road ride
Running, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, XC skiing, roller hockey, orienteering, roller skiing, swimming - that's what I've done in the last year. Have also done horse riding, downhill skiing, snowboarding, telemarking, rock climbing, adventure racing, sailing, triathlon, canoe polo, water polo.
Do I win?
Was it a competition? Not that I can see.
Shall we all list every sport we have ever done?
Football, rugby and unicycle hockey every week. Not sure it helps with fitness, I'm normally knackered the day after which is half the week.
Used to do a fair amount of surfing, started cycling to get fit for surfing then changed my priorities. Still try to keep up to speed with giving the ferret a run.
Bill - where do you surf? Last week was epic!
Target Shooting - 10M Air Pistol
Used to play Badminton and 5-a side each week but family commitments mean I'm unable to do them all and as I was taking too long recovering from injuries playing football I thought it best finish that first. Shit at golf, hate running, hate going the gym so just riding for me now.
Aracer, do you sleep?
Shall we all list every sport we have ever done?
Well the question was "how many" - I've only listed the ones I've done reasonably seriously - most of those I've competed in at a reasonable level - otherwise I could have added football, rugby, cricket, rounders, waterskiing, wakeboarding etc.
Did BP also steal your SOH, Mat?
