It took til about a week ago before she started coming out with some pretty worrying stuff, alarm bells have started ringing.

Just the first...which I didn't realise was a date until the next morning when she leapt upon me.

That was five years ago!

I knew on the first date with my now wife, I did know her beforehand though and we had spent a couple of evenings getting to know each other better whilst on nights out with friends before our first official date.
Been married 18months, together 7.5 years.

We hit 16 years together on Sunday. Still not married, so I guess we're still checking each other out.... 😉

Have you checked her texts and emails to see what she thinks about you? 😉

Sorry for lowering the tone.

I get so used to the younger women I work with extolling the virtues of each new beau and it's become my standard break up the conversation gambit..

"He took me to this fantastic restaurant"

"Oooh did he?"

"Then we went for a walk in the moonlight"

"Oooh did you?"

"He said I was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen"

"Oooh did he?"

"Has he seen your monkey yet?"

...normal service resumes.

I think it was the 3rd or 4th when we were half way up the Old Man of Coniston (walking) and it was Pi$$ing down and she still had a smile on her face 😀 And was happy to carry on.
We turned round, as she was bloody frozen though.

"He said I was the most beautiful girl he'd ever seen"

Is anyone really that gullible or self-conceited that they believe that tripe?

5th date tonight - going well so far (french, attractive, good job, interesting)

out of my very confusing 3 dates in 3 days with 3 girls a few weeks ago, she's come out on top. dunno if she's 'the one' yet, of course!

MrsBouy and I wrote to each other via email & texts for 3 months before we met up, I knew what she looked like and met once very briefly at a dinner party about 6 months beforehand. So that’s 3 months of mails and texts, weird meandering thoughts, updates on work, general banter and some rather deep thought provoking stuff too, ohhh and Poems, lots and lots of Poems to each other.
I knew after the 2nd email...

Not too sure how I knew, it just felt sort of “right”

Ohhh and I had no problems if it didn’t get to the point of meeting up, the mails and Poems were quite amazing, I was quite happy with that.

Now, well now we fight like cat and dog and wee in each others shoes*

*sometimes.

I had a relationship like that. And then she moved back to the area and I realised she was the most annoying person I've ever met!

Possibly zero, we knew each other for a while before dating.

@emz - so what do you "do about it" if you are sure ?

No monkey?

Eeeh, you need to get her drunk, see if she's annoying, or a bit fighty, buy her some chips, natch, snog her to death while she still tastes of salt and vinegar, then shag the living daylights out of her.

Then you'll know.

I'm like a relationship counsellor and a dietician all in one.

Steady now, there's a line....

I recall emsz has a bit of a thing for chips in the context of dating, hence my sage advice.

A badly tended garden is a deal breaker...

Tea/keyboard interface scenario.

Two months since our first date and I still can't find owt wrong with her. She's single, relatively fit and more-or-less sane. Dunno if she's "the one", mind. The tyranny of distance could be a factor... 😐
