So frau Stern has recently acquired a new Samsung phone after using her iphone 4 for the last few years. ย  ย Now the iPhone has no SIM card in it any more as we have swapped it into the new phone but when someone sends a text message ( not WhatsApp or anything like that) it comes to the iPhone and not the new Samsung. Phone calls come to the Samsung as normal. How can this be possible? Yours confused.

iMessage uses email to link accounts the sender needs to use your phone number as the recipient.

You need to unregister that phone number from Apple. I had the same issue years ago when I ditched the iPhone. It's not a problem with your phone, more that other iPhones check in with Apple when they send a text and try and use imessage rather than plain text.

Off the top of my head I can't remember how I did it but it's a common problem and Google found the answer pretty quickly.

Menu may be different in a 4, but try settings > iMessage and sign out of the apple ID or remove the phone number.

Or log in on the iCloud website and look through the settings there.

WhatsApps messages would come through on both if they're set up using the same phone number, I think. Again sign out or remove the number in the app settings.
