Miles divided by litres then times 4.5.

Not sure someone unable to use Google should be allowed to drive...

I could have used google but I find most folks on here very knowledgeable and often keen to help, I do some time think I shouldn't be driving

im not a milkman any more packed it in 2 weeks ago hence buying a small van for just getting about in, well chuffed with the mpg

Why would you use Google to work out mpg? Surely your PC has a calculator.

I do it in my head. Multiply litres by 2, then by 11, then divide by 100, all of which are fairly easy calcs (which approximates 4.545454 litres in a gallon):

45*2 = 90
90*11 = 990
990/100 = 9.9

9.9 gallons

Then 520/10=52
10-9.9=0.1
52*0.1=5.2
5.2/10=~0.5

so 52.5mpg - seems close enough, all with calcs you can do in your head (provided you can remember a couple of numbers for a few minutes).

Careful with what you Google. US gallon is different to UK.

Plenty of apps for this if you have a smartphone.
