[#2562717]

We have some friends who have the misfortune to have an absolute **** of a neighbour. Was never really an issue until a year or so ago when they suddenly got loads of verbal abuse, physical threats, home "visits" purely to intimidate, damage to cars and even dogs/cats being attacked.

They're genuine people and no-one has any idea what sparked this off. The aggressor is just going pyscho for no reason.

Have spent the last few years making their house "perfect" but are now looking to move as a result of the last 12 months. All brought to a head with recent confrontations on and in their own premises.

What can they do? Police aren't interested. CCTV any good?

Would like to advocate the bloke getting a good slap but understandably that's not the way forward.

Ask? "Look mate, what's this all about?"

Police aren't interested.

Make them interested. Ring them about every incident, meither they crap out of them until the do soemthing about it. "The police aren't interested" is an unacceptable response from them, so don't accept it. Escalate it.

Keep a detailed diary/notes of exactly what has happened. Makes it much harder for the police to fob them off.

The Police aren't interested? That's curious, as we have a similar neighbour - nothing for months and then he explodes!
I rang the Police during the last incident, and they were very proactive.

If this has happened more than once, then he can be charged under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1997/40/section/4

I would call the Police again, quoting the Protection from Harassment Act.

Cougar, they've asked him where he's coming from but the bloke just goes into a rage. Now they're afraid of confronting him full stop. Seems one of those types that isn't interested in reasoning. I've only met him in passing (they live miles away) but we know other families in that street who've started noticing his behaviour elsewhere. Just seems to have lost it, but is being particular nasty to said neighbours.

Will tell them about the diary idea and mention the PFHA. Makes sense at the very least.

Any ideas on whether proper evidence, e.g. cameras, are any good?

Cheers

Just heard that apparently the police made a mess of the initial investigation, hence they've lost confidence in the police actually doing anything.

Wonder if Laura knows about WCA's neighbour? One for a post-watershed transmission though!

Hi

Sorry to bother you but my name is STWUser ad I am a complete attention whore. I have nothing to say, but am pretty dense so am probably made for daytime TV. I also like sexual shenanigans with goldfish. Can you help me with this tricky situation?

Thanks Laura

I had this with my neighbour and one morning after a particularly horrible night shift he had a go at me for parking outside his house and I lost it. He then hid in his shed and hasn't spoken to me since. Sorted ๐Ÿ˜‰
