Ok, the bulb in my 6 or so year-old Optoma projector has finally died. No point getting a replacement bulb so I'm planning to replace it with a HD one. From some brief research on line it looks like the best replacement options are also Optoma's - either a 720p HD67N for about £500 or a HD200X for about £700.
Anyone know about projectors and advise on whether 1080p is worth the extra or other options I should consider? My screen is an 8ft one.
Bought an Optoma HD20 in the end.
Just curious, how large are you projecting to?
You won't be dissapointed, I've got one here replacing an old InFocus 800x600 dlp one.
Difference is night and day, super crisp, very quiet, decent contrast. Enjoy!
I'm projecting to an 8ft screen in a 20ft or so room.
The quality is impressive compared to the previous projector, even with non HD sources. I've had to do some re-cabling for a couple of the sources so they can feed component rather than composite, which has helped, but I need to replace a couple of the sources with HD ones now.
My son is happy as I've cabled up his Xbox 360 for HD and it looks great.
