Mine has pretty basic kit, but I hardwired my lounge so I didn't have lots of wires running around, but they are recessed into the walls and I've just sockets where the speakers are. Can't beat good wires, all soldiered up.

sky +
marantz av amp
mission m33i floorstanders at front
mission m3c1 centre
mission m3dsi rear bi pole speakers
all wired with studio grade van damme speaker cable!

sounds quite nice but could do with a sub aswell.

I did have a marantz cd player with it and that sounded sublime, but i sold it and really regret it now.

I'm on a slow upgrade process, currently have my eye on a TV, but wondering how much HD content I would put through it and my 6 year old Panasonic CRT works so well it seems a shame to get rid of it as the picture is still ace!

Onkyo 577 Amp
Mordaunt Short 902i fronts
MS Avant 309i sub
MA Avant centre and rears
Pioneer DV-600AV-K

So nothing all that special at the moment really, but it all works nicely!

I've kind of lost touch with what's 'in'

I went from a B&o system consisting of a 4 room masterlink with a 32" Avant, Beosound 3200 'lab 4000's and 'lab 6000's, an MX9000 and a beolink 3500.
Fortunately I sold it before it became close to worthless what with CRT being out of favour and networking taking the 'wow' away from Beolink systems.

I now have the setup below:

[IMG] [/IMG]

A Tosh 42" of with I don't know the model no., a Yamaha DSP-A5 driving; Mourdant Short MS815 up front, Avant 905i centre, MS823R at the back and a Mission MS6 sub. A Yamaha DVD-S520 and a Humax PVR 8000T feed the TV. All a few years old now but all serve their purpose well.
I'll be having a substantial upgrade in the next wee while with the TV going in to the bedroom and being replaced with something slightly larger and I'll be having that projector that I've nearly bought so many times! And of course, I must get a Blu-Ray of some description.

I enjoy looking through the members gallery in AVforums to steal some ideas.

Nothing much 32" Samsung TV

Denon Amp (cheap one)

Tannoy 5.1 EFX speakers

Sky HDizzle

And a rather gucci media extender (Popcornhour C200), which I know far too much about to be healthy.

@the_lecht_rocks - I think the most important thing is finding stuff you like the sound/picture of and have a use for I just don't see that I'd watch that much HD content at the moment. The amp I got from richer sounds I think I had a few days/couple of weeks to play with it before I could take it back if I didn't like the sound, needless to say after a little play with the setup it settled right in.

Sony Bravia 40" LCD, Marantz SR4200 amp, Marantz DV4200 DVD, Arcam CD72T CD, Mission M74 floorstander front speakers, M72 stand mounted rear, M7C center, REL sub, all QED cabling. PS3, XBOX360, Wii.
I think that's all...
Oh, and an Apple airport to stream itunes 😉

Not really home cinema, but I use 50" LG Plasma / LG Blu-ray > Lavry DA11 DAC > ATC Active 20's. I use HTPC to stream flac's of my CD collection.

Infocus projector and 100" screenplay screen for films and a 40" samsung LCD for normal telly. both fed by xbox, Sky+ (being replaced by V+HD this weekend) and a self built HTPC. sound is via a Onkyo 507 feeding Jamo A102 speakers. nothing expensive but suits my requirements perfectly.

10 years ago I bought £1000 worth of Onkyo amp, surround processor, & speakers for £300, and yes it was from a proper shop not in a pub somewhere. I've now got it hooked up to my Panasonic 37" LCD TV, XBox, Humax PVR, Laptop, Wii, and when I can be bothered to hook it up my Blu Ray player. All using normal cables 😉

Where are you having your demo? I'm based in Aberdeen as well and could do with some speaker stands for my front and rear speakers.

TLR - my previous job to bike stuff was Install Manager for www.james-morrow.com

I covered all levels from the systems mentioned above through to circa 100k Meridian and Linn style systems with Crestron, Sim2, etc level kit.

Speciality was in home integration and hiding it all away from the family/guests etc.

We worked in all types of houses from new build (specialists in retro fit to fresh finished houses) to castles!

Any advice you need then just drop me an email on mdownie@thebikechain.co.uk - would be happy to offer guidance and opinion. Seen a lot of kit and like bike stuff - some works well and some not so well!

Incidentally - what are you demo'ing?

I've got a KDL-46Z4500 Sony LCD, which is just a beautiful screen.

Sony BDP S550 bluray and decoder (can't remember which one). Kef Q35s as front right and left, with Kef KHT 5005 (wireless rears) 5.1 surround sound to make up 7.1 surround.

Sky HD and Apple TV as alternative feeds, X-box 360 for gaming. 😀

The picture is awesome, but it's the surround sound that makes the whole experience so good.

My name is Kramer, and I have a bad case of shiny kit syndrome

Samsung 37" 1080p TV

Onkyo SR577 amp

Sky HDTV

Samsung BDP2500 blu ray player

Xbox 360 elite

TANNOY SFX5.1 speakers (5.1)

Mission 761 left and right front (2.0)

SOUNDSTYLE Z2 stands for the Missions

IXOS XHS553 speaker cable all round

The front room now resembles a proper boys toys room.

The amp by the way is a minter

Everything is on HDMI into the amp which upscales where it needs to and the amp feeds the TV

@Barney_McGrew where's the table from? I have just moved so need some stuff!

That bloke's setup on the AV forum is gash. It looks like his living room is a show stand. Nasty.

I have a Sony [edit][s]V5500[/s] W5500[/edit] 40" with Gale Gold rear, centre, and fronts. No sub - some ancient old Merantz DVD player and a sherwood AV amp of some kind.

I want to chuck it all out (minus TV) and get one of those Sony all in one Blueray things for simplicity and stuff. I like the idea of one Sony remote and no buggering about (hate one for all remote things too).

The up scale is better than I thought, however it can get a little pixalated with deep blacks, but that may just be my TV not coping that well.

As for alternatives both you mention are very good, I just like the Onkyo as it for me is a little warmer.

I think its worth a look, Richer Sounds are doing a right good deal on them.

Whatever you get make sure it has Dolby TrueHD sound processing though.

It takes the most and best signal path from your Blu ray palyer.

The latest blu ray disks have this method of sound reproduction, it is very good.

Also worth ensuring your Blu ray player is type BD-Live 2.0 Ready, this way you will get via your router and internet connection loads of live add on bits (disk specific though)

Edit:Tru HD as well as images are passed through the HDMI cable as well on a blu ray player, it makes connections to and from kit very easy.

We built an extension on the house a few years back and use that as a home cinema room with a projector, screen and surround sound system. It's very popular with the kids - especially for sleepovers and the like.

The projector is a DLP Themescene H30 and the amp a Denon AVR-2803. Speakers are an REL sub and I think the speakers are Tannoy. The whole set-up, including the 8ft screen was only about £2K - about half what a 42" plasma would have cost at the time. There is also a Pioneer DVD player, Sky Multiroom plus an X-Box 360 and Wii as sources (and occasionally a PC was well - great for Call of Duty 4!).

When the projector bulb finally blows (it's already at about twice it's expected life) I'll upgrade to HD and a Blue-Ray player but I'm still pretty happy with the system. We've got a treadmill in there as well and it's great for exercising indoors on cold, wet winter nights.

Denon 2910 DVD player, Cyrus CD6 CD player, Linn LP12 turntable, Denon 3805 AV receiver, NEC 42in plasma panel and Miller and Kreisel K series front middle rear and sub.

If you are at all serious about stereo Hi-Fi then I recommend getting a Miller and Kreisel speaker system as it a) sounds great and b) is easy to drive- a lot of AV amps can't handle hi-fi speakers. Before I got the M&K system I had Spendor speakers and needed a proper Linn hi-fi amp to drive them for critical audio listening as the Denon couldn't handle them. Got the M&Ks and combined with the Denon they sound better than the Spendors. Only issue with M&K is that they are uncoloured and ruthlessly expose poor recordings.

I'm still keeping the music and cinema systems seperate - as well as the AV system I've also got a Linn/Naim system in my study - LP12, CD3.5 32.5/SNAPS2/IXO/140x2 into Credos on Mana racks. Getting on a bit now and, other than the LP12, not the prettiest but still sounds fantastic.
