[#7260926]

We're looking for something for late September on or very near the Welsh coast, anywhere from Pembrokeshire to about Barmouth really, self catering, not worried if it's a cottage, or more rustic cabin type set up. Beach/coast/lake in short walking distance ideal, as too would some decent MTBing within 1/2 hour, trail centre or natural.

Will need proper toilets and a hot shower though otherwise I'll be going alone........

has anybody got any recommendations?

http://www.graigwen.co.uk/ nr Arthog (and Barmouth)

B&B, couple of self catering cottages (we've stayed in "Little Haven"), yurts or camping.. stayed there before, nice spot.

Can recommend Y Derwen at Arthog.

Walk to Mawddach Estuary or Cregennen Lakes, Barmouth and Fairbourne, short drive (25-30 min) to trails at Coed Y Brenin, 1 minute cycle ride from lodge to the railway cycle path where can then bimble up the Mawddach to Dolgellau for great breakfast at Roberts' cafe or great ale and food at the George Hotel at Penmaenpool, also along said path.

*Edit - ha, synchro Arthogness!

For decent MTB, you're probably better in the Barmouth/Harlech/Porthmadog area. That gives you Coed y Brenin trail centre, plus classics like Pont Scethin. And you'll be close to Antur Stiniog for the downhill tracks.

Sykes Cottages have a good selection, with a useful search facility.

I think you can take bikes on the Ffestiniog Railway, up to Blaenau Ffestiniog, for an alternative form of uplift.

My suggestion is dog friendly too, the Little Haven has a small fenced area directly outside.

Trawsfynydd Holiday Village has pet friendly log cabins 2 miles from Coed y Brenin. We're about 30 minutes from Barmouth, 20 minutes from Antur Stiniog and 30 minutes from the Marin Trail, Penmachno Trails and the Mach trails. We're a bit further north than your post suggested, but if you are still looking for accommodation, take a look at our website www.logcabinswales.co.uk ๐Ÿ™‚
