I'm pondering spending new year up north this year after a few quiet years at home. I was wondering if anyone has any idea about ceilidhs and events around Newtonmore? It's got the most affordable hotel for us and I don't mind driving for up to about 30 minutes to get to something good and decent value.

A google reveals lots of events for last year and I'd rather a local's perspective.

If you can get there! Always puts me off paying deposits for that time of year in case the weathers pretty bad and the snow gates are closed.

Nothing ventured nothing gained I suppose.

Sorry not very helpful

Glen Dall was one of the best new year parties I've ever been to...

Have been camping up there a few times over new year. Join the torch parade and fireworks at Newtonmore. It's friendly.
