I don't like the idea of people disliking me to the point of hatred.

Ah well never mind, dry your eyes and please never come back.

It's actually the reason why I have always refused to call Porked Soles by his proper usename...

Well, if that's not moral high ground, I don't know what is. ๐Ÿ™„

To BD and Graham, sorry if that went over your heads, it works best with a Lancashire accent. ๐Ÿ˜‰

There's nothing clever about Ernie Lynch whatsoever.

I'd not got it either........'polite people' may be similarly protected by their own naivetรฉ.

LOL ! It didn't even occur to me that some people might not have got the "joke" !

Ah, dear........ the naivety of "polite people" ! ๐Ÿ˜€

I guess that explains why you accused me of being 'angry' the other day when I called you wan-ka GrahamS ? I thought to myself "wtf is he on about, it's a bog standard off the cuff comment". I can see now that for you it's a bit more serious than that. That's the problem with an internet forum - without seeing and hearing the other person, it's sometimes difficult to gauge what sort of company you are in. Sorry mate ๐Ÿ˜

name calling on the forum is not very nice.
it take a person down a peg in the intelligence stakes in my opinion.
ernie and a few others seem quite good at it.
and they seem to get away with it.
go figure.

Sorry mate

No problem ernie. I'm a sensitive flower really ๐Ÿ˜ณ Sorry in return.

my missus saw that thread and suitably chastised me for being an online arse. Apparently I'm far nicer in reality, I just enjoy debating and playing devil's advocate. I have vowed to her that I'll try not to be such a d1ck in future. ๐Ÿ™‚

You must be kidding - Lanesra was the antiFred!

Fred - stroppy antiracist socialist with well thought out and reasoned arguments who got up peoples noses

Lanesra - Stroppy bigoted racist with ignorant opinions. One of the most unpleasant people I have ever seen on this forum

name calling on the forum is not very nice. it take a person down a peg in the intelligence stakes in my opinion.

It depends. Like most things in life, a lot of it is just down to common sense, the context for example, is all important. Whether it's in a jokey sort of way, whether the other person is being abusive, the level of "offensiveness" of the word, etc. There's no hard and fast rule - just common sense. I regularly called RudeBoy a ****, and he regularly called me a ****. In fact when he emails me he still calls me a **** (and worst) and we when meet up we invariably exchange expletives. Indeed earlier on this thread I referred to him as an 'ugly ****er'. Despite the fact that I love the bloke to bits (in a manly sort of way) It's just the way some people are, it's just important to remember that not everyone is the same.

btw bombadillo, you might be surprised to know that I am hugely unbothered how high up the "intelligence stakes" I am. Take me down as many "pegs" as you want - intelligence is a greatly overrated virtue imo, specially on here.

and you expect us to believe that. i think that it is the opposite.
i think that you think you have superior intelligence to the majority on here.

as do quite a few other, might i hasten to add

The one occasion I saw them both together they seemed to coexist reasonably well. Fred isn't as antagonistic as he portrayed himself, but is possibly louder.

LOL ! I don't care whether you believe it or not ! ๐Ÿ˜€

I happen to think that intelligence is generally an overrated virtue - especially on here. There are plenty of other equally important considerations.

As far as my 'superior intelligence' as you call it, is concerned, I happen to know that it is very average indeed. When I was 13 years old I took part in properly conducted QIs tests. And I can completely assure you, that I am not much more than average. Whether you believe that, is up to you.

What I don't mind admitting is that, imo, I am relatively well-informed (maybe that's what you mean?). But that is a completely different ballgame altogether, and has nothing whatsoever to do with 'intelligence'. There are plenty of people on here who are undoubtedly highly intelligent, and yet often appear to be rather ill-informed. In my case, I would put down to mostly luck and circumstances 8)

Are those hosted by Stephen Fry?

Really Ernest, no assurances needed here...

IQ tests are terrible measures of intelligence.

According to them, half the population are below average intelligence, which is just daft.

I feel I can almost claim empathy with that exclusive "banned but returned" group having been threatened with a "banning" for calling "crikey" a *v** (four letter word descriptive of a female front bottom, slang) although many other disguised sweary type words seem allowed - Ar$eholes/****-ka and so on.

Plainly, even-handed administration is a foreign country to some... ๐Ÿ˜‰

You only get 'threatened' with banning .......... I've banned several times for using "disguised sweary type words".

So I have to agree with you....... 'even-handed administration' does indeed appear foreign to some.

Mind you, I probably deserved it.

.

Still can't figure out why "Forking Our Souls" isn't a banning offence though.......

Apart from when he used to post random pictures on threads once he'd got bored of arguing, I found Fred to be excellent entertainment, which for me is the almost the whole point of the internet.

It's a perfectly reasonable username. I adopted it when a friend and I wanted some information regarding choice of forks for our 853 geared Cotics.

Ever heard that some people have a subconscious urge to jump when standing on the edge of a cliff or a tall building? I'm (only almost) tempted to start typing obcenities in huge capitals, just to see what would happen (and I dont mean directed at you, FOS, Just in general).

So why aren't you called Forking My Soul then ?

Is it because 'my soul' doesn't sound like arseholes ?

That's so touching

............so anyway :

Because ........... I wanted information for a friend and I.

Ah, I see, so your login is for two people then ? Is the other person called bombadillo ? That bloke AdamG you remind me of (on account that you are really clever like him) used to like having several incognito logins - maybe you've got several too ? It's the clever thing to do. Maybe you're also bombadillo ? Although personally I think bombadillo sounds like SteveTheBarbarian. SteveTheBarbarian was really into tattoos - do you like tattoos Soaked Pork ?

But anyway, I digress.....so what does, quote : "They're forking awesome" mean ? It doesn't seem like proper english to me.

How the bejesus do you guys figure out when someone has changed his or her log-in name?

Can someone enlighten me as to the new ones?

I know two are Goan used to be Smee and Porking Their Holes used to be the photocopying genius AdamG. Any more hanging around?

Bombadillo's definitely someone who used to be here before but I'm thinking not Rudeboi.

I couldn't possibly speak for this Mr. G, but I would never dream of having more than on login. I'm a one-login-kinda-guy. And please, can we English have a capital 'E' please ernest? A lower case 'e' makes it look so unimportant, ernest.
