How about a shout for the UK:

Caxton Press
Manage
Verb T
Skuff
Fliptrix
Four Owls
Jam Baxter
Jehst
Task Force
Low Key
Dr Syntax and Tom Curuana

It is all quite incestuous and a lot of the solo artists listed appear in some of the collaborations. Some incredible albums released by all of the above.

Ninja tune is good, every now and again Kitsune have some decent hip/hop rap stuff.

I think these guys are German, and it's a bit jazzy/flowy but still soooooo cool

This thread is a goldmine so far! I will add a couple to the list that I don't think have been mentioned so far, not brand new by any respect:

Skinnyman - Council Estate of Mind
Mark B & Blade - The Unknown
Buck 65(Ahem) - Talking Honky Blues and Square specifically for this thread
Saian Super Crew and MC Solaar if you can put up with not understanding the lyrics
Bike for Three - More Heart Than Brains
Childish Gambino - Camp
Dels -GOB

Another kid from a norther town thinking he was growing up in the 6th borough of Brooklyn here.

Lots of really good stuff has been mentioned already but hope this fills some gaps...

Aim - predominantly DJs but also some super chilled hip hop
Antipop Consortium
Beastie Boys - not sure how they've not come up so far!
Blown Celeb (side project of Dizzy from UD)
Common
Danger Mouse
De La Soul
Fatlip
Gangstarr - in fact anything produced by Premier
Giant Panda - great old school
Grand Puba - if you like a bit of Japanese
Hieroglyphics
J Dilla
J-Live
MF Doom/King Geedorah/Monsta Island Czars/Viktor Vaughn
Madlib - anything on Stones Throw
Mos Def (earlier stuff especially, black on both sides etc)
Percee P
The Pharcyde
Phil The Agony
Planet Asia
Rae and Christian
Rasco
RJD2 - producers but well worth a listen
Rob Swift
Saian Supa Crew - if you like a bit of French
Slum Village
Souls of Mischief
A Tribe Called Quest
Ugly Duckling - just super dooper fun times
Wildchild
Wu-tang Clan/RZA/GZA/Ghostface/Raekwon etc

Some ladeez: Azealia Banks

I listened to that 212 song non-stop for months.....amazing tune. Wasn't really that fussed on her other stuff though. For anyone who hasn't heard it.....it's well worth a listen. Bear in mind....it is very rude 😳

She has an album coming out "Broke With Expensive Taste" - it's not all brilliant, but the good stuff is really great.
Some of it is a bit r'n'b (I think she is trying for commercial success, unfortunately), but still ok by me.

Hope that's a joke! Embarrassingly bad.

How could I have forgotten:
Young Fathers

Best live band of the year for me.

Also on a Brit tip Wiley's new album is great.

As an aside, probably not a thread to get into the rights/wrongs of the Ferguson situation... but here is Killer Mike - one half of aforementioned Run the Jewels - on stage last night & speaking about the current atmosphere of fear and anger.

Powerful language - and not even remotely safe for work.

Quite partial to a bit of the ol' Edan.

As a recommendation for something new I've only just realised this albums nearly 10 years old. I guess Hiphop doesn't date as fast as it used to - although not quoting the date in every track probably helps. Fresh for 88 you suckers.

Bit of quakers is nice too

Here are a few few albums as suggestions(the videos are tracks from the albums). None of them are straight up alt-hip hop but are some of my recent favourites.

Pillow Fight - Pillow Fight - 2013
Dan the automator (producer behind dr octagon) and emily wells . Its not hip hop but worth a lisen if your a DrOct/Deltron/Handsome fan.

No Malice - Hear Ye Him - 2013
former member of the Clipse and would probably have previously fallen under your class of gangsta rapper. he has now found christ and his albumms about self-improvement and repenting his past. These couldn’t be any less gangsta if it tried.

CAS - The number 13 - 2013
London MC playing with a mixture of different imageries in his lyrics. content mainly revolves around street level drug dealing and being a faceless undead deamon.

Goblin was a massive let down.
If you want a Tyler album, it's Bastard. free - Here
