Peugot 205 diesel 180K miles.
Peugot 205 diesel 303K miles
Current Toyota Corolla diesel is on 285K miles
I ran my old T4 up to 290k before sudden catastrophic head gasket failure sent it to the scrappies in the sky.
We've got a 2004 Doblo with 160-odd thousand on it, which is barely run-in by some of the numbers on here!
I once had a Xantia 2.0 petrol in which I did 155,000 in 4 years. Sold it to my BIL who took it to 225,000. One clutch and a seal in the Hydro-thingy suspension in all those miles. No rust, interior looked like new. Those poor quality French cars, eh? Same engine in a company 406, 98,000 in 18 months. Never missed a beat.
Technically not my vehicle but work lorry, 06 plate, has 974,223k on the clock.
my brother had a 2000 audi A62.5TDi Quattro Sprot he bought in 2002 with 50k on the clock. a few year later he gave it to me with 90k on the clock. i gave it back to him a few years later with 150k on the clock. he drove it until 2012 when someone smashed into the rear of it...mileage was close to 300k.
my other brother had a 98 honda accord 1.8 which he bought in 2000 with 20k on the clock. he got rid of it finally about 3 years ago...mileage was again touching 300k
Vauxhall Omega, finally scrapped at 280,000.
Everything was worn out, it'd had enough.
Finally hit by a bus outside Crumpsall Hospital.
Far more reliable than the Doblo that has replaced it, which is pretty much worn out at 70,000.
@doris5000 - is that Volvo going up Wyle Cop in Shrewsbury?
certainly isyou another shropshire monner?
Around Stretton and the Long Mynd when I'm not up at uni.
winner! i used to love getting up around there on my bike, er, before you were born by the looks of your username! haha!
(still ride the same bike 😳 )
2005 plate Passat 1.9tdi 130.
230000 when i gave it back to the company last year. Never once missed a beat. Unbelievable car.
2010 megane coupe 146K
2004 Megane 198K
2011 Alfa romeo Giulietta 149K on her
I don't do low milage lol

It's such a great place for riding, to live within pedaling distance of the Long Mynd/Hopton/Eastridge/The Clees/Mortimers Forest is fantastic. It was only when I moved to Leeds for uni that I realised how lucky I am with the riding straight out of the door at home (although Leeds ain't bad).
You're assuming right about my age too, I'm really not too old.
Just acquired a T4 with what is says is 178k of the clock from a mate (although changing the dials at 130k ish means there's about 20k missing!)... ex-aa, battered and loving it 🙂
I bought a Merc 250D ex taxi out of the local paper which had 440K miles for £250, ran it for 2 years and put another 25k on it before the exhaust fell off (only thing that went wrong), cost of replacing was more than it was worth. A nice Latvian man bought it off me for £500, loaded it on his transporter which seemed to full of similarly aged German cars. Had a few other newer Mercedes since but none were as reliable as that old 90's non turbo diesel one.
97 Audi A4 Tdi (purchased off here) which is at 253K, brill car as its my work vehicle/bike carrier/dog carrier. Cruises sweetly at 80mph and loves Shell nitro diesel.
Old company banger was a '51 plate Citroen C5. On the MOT checker it had 178K on it.
Our old '05 Focus TDCi has 167K and is still running.
I remember as a kid that cars with 100K on them were knackered and either rusted to death or spat all their oil out.
Sold my sprinter last year with 330k on it. My current Sprinter and Astra vans are comparative spring chickens with 186k and 190k on them respectively.
Currently got:
2008 Civic 2.2 CDTi - 207k miles.
2004 Civic 1.7 CDTi - 139k miles.
51 plate gt tdi pd, 243k from new and all me ... completely bomb proof
so far 🙂
My 2003 Trafic 1.9Dci is still going strong at 402k. Had a new clutch and gearbox repair, but everything else is original.
01 Passat 1.9tdpd. Bought at 246k , sold at 312k for £50 less than I paid for it. Needed 1 x brake caliper, and that was about it, and a fair few tyres and oil changes.
Never let me down and was one of the best cars i have ever owned.
Now running a V70 which is on 178k , so just run really.
This is convenient. Which would stw go for?

Lower mileage but old vs high mileage and newer
I had a Citroen Dyane that I saw tick over 100,000. That's approx. 750,000 in dog-miles.
There was an office/factory/sandwich run around when i did a short contract in the mid 90's. Already had about 100k miles on it then, was back there for a meeting about 6 or 7 years ago and the bloody thing trundled past the window of the conference room. Still doing the same job. Probably on its 25th clutch going by the way the apprentices used to drive it when i was there. I reckon the engine must have been running about 12 hours a day. And the seat rails moving almost as far as the car itself......
Personal record was an astra i bought one year to get me from Kent to various races in france and belgium, paid about 250 quid for it with near enough 150 thousand on it, right rusty dog. Ran it for a year or so, sold it on for 150 quid having done another 60 odd thousand.
Unfortunately, i'd not had the cash to service it, just put fuel and oil in it. Quite a lot of oil towards the end. 😳
Some brilliant comments on here. Current xc90 has 110,000 so obviously still running in and a mk2 1.1 fiesta I had as a student sold with 189,000 was a great car. Well actually it was a bag of nails but seemed like a great car at the time.
Just sold my wife's Mk4 Golf GTi, as it was starting to be a bit of a pain to start, 188k.
Bought it for £400, sold it for £550. Literally did nothing to it in 2 years.
My 04 Passat is barely run in with 146k on it. Although it's got a grumbly gearbox which is going to need replacing soon.
My uncle had a Toyota Corolla, which he ran as a taxi. It had over 200,000 miles when I spoke to him; I asked him how often the oil was changed, expecting him to say every 10,000 miles or so.
It's been done twice, he said........
My old Audi A6 C5 shape 2.5tdi, original clutch. 2nd hand gearbox @250k
Eventually sold at around 285k for £320 on the bay... bloke who bought it was going to use the engine for his A4!
Current A6 C6 shape 2.0tdi currently has 207k on it, but not convinced it'll match it's predecessor..
1994 Mercedes E300D. 227000, has had quite a lot done but still lovely to drive.
Sold our Mondeo with 220k on it which had gone through a few consumables, but still going strong, wife was fed up with such a big car.
Loan car from the garage is somewhere well beyond 300k, it's a VW Bora.
Had a transit at a summer job, came secondhand with low miles, but pretty hammered, saw some mileages 3 times over the next 6 years as the odometer was only 5 figures.
Tractors count hours running rather than mileage, know of one contractor machine that nearly made 700hours in one month.
My Honda HR-V bought new in 2004.
Just sailed through MOT with no problems. Still on original exhaust.
213,500 miles so far. I do the oils and filters now at normal intervals. Just about to have the cam belt done..
Not an exciting car but I have no desire or need to get rid.
Aiming for 300,000 miles. Currently doing 25,000 per year so not having an easy life.
My Fiesta is 3 1/2 years old and just turned 92k.
Vans 15 years old and just turned 123k. Been nowhere compared to the Fiesta.
Took my f-plate Sierra 1.6L estate through to 312500 miles. Original clutch was recklessly changed at 275000 as a gearbox linkage pin had failed, there was another 5-10000 miles on that clutch. Still have the camshaft and front plate in the garage.
Then took a 1.8 Zetec focus estate to 245000 miles, then sold for scrap, but still good enough to get a speeding ticket six months later.
Regular servicing and mechanical sympathy keep cars running happy.
Got 2 2005 320Ds, both done more than 150k and both completely original. They get an annual service irrespective of the mileage and they never let us down.
2004 Mk3 Mondeo sitting on 166k and still going very strong and in good nick externally too. Our other car has done 130k.
The Mondeo may have to go in favour of an auto soon. Doing ever increasing amounts of largely unavoidable travel where congestion is an issue (business and school holidays) and getting a sore knee and hip on the left side when I have a really heavy week in the car. Rather drop some money on a new car than store up trouble for my retirement. If we change it someone will get a super cheap well loved car.

this one makes me chuckle
my folks owned this thing from about 1983 to about 1993, and they still see it around town from time to time:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/56252091@N03/6517301487I looked up the MOT history, and the mileage on the clock has been exactly the same at every test for the last 10 years
EDIT - i see from the post above that this fault still afflicts certain Volvos! haha
That's kept in garages by my old work, the old boy that owns it takes it out fairly frequently.
Regular servicing and mechanical sympathy keep cars running happy.
Much like a bike.
sympathy keep cars running happy.
And long runs at normal operating temperature
Several older petrol 'real' Saabs in the nineties/early noughties that I took to well over 200K without real issue - 900s tended to need gearboxes between 150 and 200K though. Had one 9000 Aero still very refined drive @ 230K.
More recent GM Saabs of lesser quality. 1.9 TiDs pretty rubbish and needing frequent attention - electrics, suspension, cam belts, water pump. 2.2 TiDs and 9-5s better. My last 9-5 estate went to 201K without needing anything. My present 9-5 estate on 140K and climbing at the rate of 25-30K a year.
Moral of the story - the more GM input, the more to avoid.
Daft money, but a potential big miles barge. It is local. I am temped - more if it was an estate...
All our cars have done 'high' miles according to anyone else...
'recently'
Seat Cordoba Vario - sold to friends at 140k, they ran until 180k when it was scrappage schemed.
Passat 1.9tdi - traded in at 180k
Mazda 323 - bought at 126k, sold a year later at 136k for £100 more than I paid. Immaculate and NOTHING wrong or not working, bar a squeaking electric aerial.
Touran - sold at 160k as suspension (again), turbo, clutch and timing belt=service were all looming/on way out at the same time 😯
Galaxy - was bought 20 months ago at 70k, hit 118k this week and I plan on running to the scrappy.
