Anyway, sitting here just now minding my own business; and this comes wiggling along in the middle of the carpet.

Is it a baby slow-worm?
Could be baby eels, and they'll crawl up yer anus while yer asleep....

I've done a thorough search on the web and I think what you have there is a Bic biro.

Try feeding it bacon and see if it will grow.
No idea what it is but if it was my house it would be systematically stripped out and cleaned. About 2 minutes after finding that.
