To be fair, I have seen a few Apache/cobra helicopters flying over the UK (going somewhere, not circling) in the last few years. I'm guessing a US AF thing as we don't have any... yet.

Have seen a pair of apaches land at Halfpenny green airport near Stourbridge before. The UK army run some I think.
They did look like Apaches but less angular fuselage, more rounded.
Still very distinctive and unusual. Lots of helicopters fly over usually heading south. Mostly civil craft with an occasional Chinook

Ah, I just searched for RAF, didn't think to look if the army had any. TBH that explains why I'd seen a few over the last few years 🙂

I thought when flying around the UK the military generally does have the civilian transponders turned on in order to help avoid any awkward midair collisions. Flightradar24 filters them out though although some other sites display them.
The navy wildcat are developing a version with missile pylons.
