Though, in a strange way, I suppose some of her twisted reasoning does make sense:
presumably car speedos work in a similar way to bike speedos in that they measure rotations of the transmission or a wheel and then scale that up by the tyre circumference to get the speed?
I [i]think[/i] she is imagining that "80mph" refers to the speed of some part of the car where it is measured (e.g. transmission or wheel), hence her comment about flat versus full tyres etc

Usually when someone has difficulty comprehending something correctly, I can usually understand where they are going wrong, but her? Not a clue, nothing, completely lost on her logic.
