Just wondering if it's worth doing
As far as i know there is no central register of wills.
My dad died last year and there was no will in the house or the solicitors he used.Looking on the internet all i found were private companies that you could register the will with and my dad would never use that.
Your bank or solicitor may hold your deeds for free, just tell people or leave a note where your wills located.
The probate was a straight forward process but time consuming.
AS joeegg said just make sure people know, give your executors a copy of it with a note about where theo riginal is. Ours is in a fire proof box in our spare, our Father's have a copy each.
Thanks both - apparently the Probate service does offer this service in case your solicitor goes bust
