Prompted by a comment on another forum where someone was explaining to and american that a crew cut was the haircut of choice for 90% of the UK male population.
Even allowing for exaggeration to make a point, he might not be all that far off.
I have my suspicions that crew cuts are more common amongst manual workers and STW has a higher proportion of office workers, but lets try it any way.
So, me first.
Crew cut.
grade zero = hero
or grungy dreadlocks for the soul clap..
anything in between is dour conformist mediocrity and betrays an atrocious lack of character.. and an absence of authentic charm that would make my granny turn in her grave..
Definitely not a crew cut here, far from it.
I'm no common or garden lout, and like to think I associate with other high brow individuals.
No crew cut over here
some way from a crew cut about 8 inches or so
NÂș1 all over, suit wearing, director associating, middle classing (apparently) wine drinking professional. đ
I had a crew cut until last year - worn it like that for decades, Now long hair in a sort of pathetic midlife crisis way.
Crewcuts certainly appear more common in the UK than in the rest of europe and almost all my friends have crew cuts
Not sure what a crew cut is. I have a quarterly grade 2 (or 1). At least 1/2 the people I know are sheared rather than cut.
Grade three here and work in an office.
haven't had mine cut since before christmas. it's a mess but I can't be bothered to do anything about it.
4mm razor here.I'm almost bald anyway,so why grow it?

Used to have a number 1, but after pressure from the wife I moved to a 1 and a half and I work in an office.
I reckon about 1 in 20 men in the office I work have a crew cut, maybe slightly more.
Take the guard off and shave what's left of it off.
I'm going bald, & any longer than that I look like a salted peanut.
đ
I can't really have the 'right' haircut, as I either look like a deranged mentalist or Moors Murderer Ian Brady. đ
If I shear it all off, I then just look like a psychotic thug. I can't win. đ„
grade two all over here
but have you not noticed how most blokes under 30 have shaggy hair and beards now?

Not sure what a crew cut is.
It's a pretty dated term which really only refers to the US sailor style whereby the hair was cut to create a "flat top" as is this case :
Not something you see very much these days, although it was popular during the period when the mods made the transition to skinheads.
that's definitely a "flat top"; I suppose a flat top could be a kind of crew cut.
Very popular early 80s when 'psychobilly' became briefly popular. For example The Meteors
That's a proper crew cut, as in the style once popular with American naval crews.
rock mullet for the win.i have shoulder length hair,am going to get hair shaved off before the end of may (rush gig then erlestoke 12 hour).have shaved off my beard though đ
Mullet, 'tis the future.
some fine examples of flat-tops on this here video:
especially the drummer & bass player
I used to have a flat top when I was younger. It looked pretty good after it was cut, but as it grew back in the wave in my hair came through and it looked a bit pants đ
is that ^ Wes Brown out of ManU?
mine's not as bad as Geldof.
not yet, anyway...
It's 'Kid' out of Kid n Play, no?
What a crap, crap film that was. My mates raved about it when it came out, I thought it was dreadful.
I'm giving serious consideration to having a Mohican/Mohawk cut like Travis...
Well I can't really look any more unsettling, so why not, I reckon. đ

I keep thinking about a mohican, but at 45 I think I might have nissed the opportunity.
Get a mohican and a hat, jobs a good'un.
No go for it don simon........I reckon a 45 year old with a mohican looks well ace.
Post a pic though

Friend of mine's stepfather has a mohican. A grey one. Not sure how old he is but he's got to be well over sixty.
Short back and sides here and gradually receding, incidentally...

That's a bit long for me. I don't do hippy. đ
Elfin, ya big dummy. You don't look deranged. You look sweet.
number 2 shave from spring bank then let it grow back over the summer, nice and warm for winter thro to spring bank again
There you go don simon - I bet mintimperial's mate 60+ stepdad doesn't like a **** at all, with his grey mohican.
I bet mintimperial's mate 60+ stepdad doesn't like a * at all,
Who you calling a *?
2 & 4 now, did spend a while having a 1 & 2 cut when radiotherapy had caused quite bizzarre but expected bald patches either side & to the back of my head.
compare & contrast...
I see yer point there, John....
Who you calling a ****?
Not you mate ...............I would never call a 45 year old with a mohican a **** - they would be waaay too hard for me.
