after a shambles of an attempt at cutting my hair with my beard trimmer set on number 6, came out like number 1. I need to get a proper set of hair clippers.

I think mine are Wahl, but to be fair they're probably all much the same.

Slightly more powerful motor (they make a mention of motor type in 2000 but not super on their website) and a shiny chrome case looking at the specs maybe?
not sure theres much difference but the chrome one looks nice. 😀
think the 2000 has metal backed combs/guards.

Wahl here too, mine are 5 years old and still work perfectly. Although they are redundant at the moment as I am grasping the last of my youth by having a "hairstyle" rather than shaving my swede.
