Speaking to someone in the hovercraft world, apparently they had only two months to build it and a very limited budget. The design/mould they used was also very old.

He was not happy as it painted his hobby/passion in a very poor light.

to be fair, though, it was wet and that road is hardly used - it will have been greasy as hell.

Not quite sure it was much of a test, TBH

Watching on a slight delay, so not reading other posts (Sorry!)

However, got to the Bath bob track piece, and so far it all feels a little too much like "Now, Guy, we need to make sure we have some women represented in the series".

"Grand. Chief. Brew. Put 'em all in one episode. Job done.!

As sure as night follows day......

'What's the worst that could 'appen?'

Errrmmm......that?

Predictable but still hugely entertaining!

So many brilliant lines

"not sure what she'd make of Grimsby"

I loved the balance of representing women in Engineering Guys language

This was a great one. Much better than the hover craft

So ideas for the next series

I think we don't have to set records

I'd like to see him just have a crack at a few cycling events just to see how it goes.

Say

Fort Bill downhill track

Maybe a track event like a pursuit

or other sports

See if some one will let him have a day in an F1 car and see what sort of time he can post

or that mental Austrian Enduro event. I know another show tried that but the block didn't even qualify

Got it now Erzberg Rodeo

What would you like to see

Rally raid type thing? He has the mental / physical attitude to do any sort of event and be better than most people.

Best bit of that was the love interest and the crash. I'm not sure I can say what I thought of the rest of it. So much wrong.

A great advert for Hope though & GM is a massive star, I could watch him all day.

Anyone else spot the piece of excellent engineering on the wall?

Looked a lot like a DHF.

So if the hovercraft one was dine in only 2 months and little budget, what was supposed to be happening that didn't?

Also if Mr Hovercraft man didn't like it, why didn't he just say no?

This episode was way better, funny, good engineering, although concentrated a bit too much on Hope, when the hole idea was to go has fast as possible...brakes font help you do that ๐Ÿ˜†

Best one yet

Great bits about mountain biking - there was even a Cotic Rocket on it!!

A nice piece on Hope, some great flirting - with Guy not thinking she'll like Grimsbry after living in Geneva and an epic crash which he laughed about before he'd got pout of the cark

Top bloke and top entertainment

Makes Top Gear look pretty sh*te ๐Ÿ™‚

Obviously it's a tv show, so what they chose to show and leave out is based on it's entertainment factor, but I was surprised they didn't look at hubs (especially with Hope involved) and how they might contribute to the bike's speed.

I thought they might have looked at rim and tyre width a bit more too.

Sorry, we need to show a lady pulling a truck. No time to show any of that technical rubbish.

But ladies pulling trucks is more interesting. I've never thought "blimey, that's impressive" about a hub.

They concluded that 20" was better than 26" as it offered less air resistance. That was enough to put me off 29" for a goodly time to come...
And didn't they look at tyre width / pressure and their effects on handling on the runs at Mt Ventoux.
