Lucky thing too as I’m trying to clear some room.
About seven months ago I asked my local shop to let me know if they got hold of a Yamaha LL16 in sunburst. They finally got one with a big order and were happy to repsect the original price quoted. So here it is, no knobs to twidle (passive pickup), no mods apart from a 17 steel G-string so I can bend it 3 stops, nothing to do - it's perfect as it is.
No apologies for the Christmas song, it's amusing people with an acoustic time of year.

You might want to find a youtube closer to the original to learn from, Ben. I learned it by ear when when it came out and do the whole thing speeded up in 6/8 time. Justin guitar breaks it down with the intro and correct time signatures.
Nice. I’ve been trying to work out an instrumental arrangement of that. Was hoping to post it soon but I’ll get no points for originality now you’ve beaten me to it 😛
Trying to learn some Oasis this week. Taking ages, even at 80% speed. I should probably turn my heating on to warm my fingers up! Also trying out the Ultimate Guitar app for backing track & tabs. I like how you can set up a loop of part of a song. This was about the 10th attempt of the solo in a row!
The hardest thing to do for me is to copy solos from people who couldnt play very well at that stage of their career

Just popping in to say thanks to the prior advice an Affinty Strat HSS with a Fender 15g amp is incoming for junior. Looking for a bundle and not to spend too much because teenagers go through phases, it was a toss up between this and a Pacifica 112v bundle which seems to have run out of stock, with the lower spec 012 being available. The important thing here is the “HSS” which brings the humbucker on the bridge rather that 3 x single coil pickups.
It’ll be good enough for his grade 5 learnings and a bit of fun, he can upgrade as he gets older if playing continues.
Noises will happen on his birthday in the 1st week Jan!

I think most musicians would consider it fair to say that NG's lead playing never really progressed beyond pedestrian meanderings around the pentatonic.
This particular solo with every phrase landing on the home note always struck me as notably awful though. Pity cos it's such a great tune otherwise.
I bought a mate an affinity strat as a thank you for helping me loads.
It is a really nice guitar. I think the previous owner had spent significant amount of time setting it up for his daughter.

My favourite Noel Gallagher solos are on Don't Look Back in Anger - it's borrowed note for note from another song but Noel does it with much better timing, and Live Forever on which I find the timing really pleasing. Have a go at them and you might change your mind about Noel.

Its not really a first, we have les Paul copy which was free from here, I should really shout out to the forum member that offered it but cant remember and need to sift through my DM's. Unfortunately it remains rather heavy and the neck has bent, he finds it difficult. Plus, little Miss Kryton borrowed his amp for her drums - she's becomes a bit of a sensation so its stayed with her while he's remained on his acoustic.

I had to catch a train into Guildford for a couple of Christmas gifts.
Took 20 minutes to get them so I wandered to Andertons and spent an hour amongst the Fender Custom Shops.
Lovely guitars that didnt feel that much nicer than my Strat or Tele, the weights though were at least 2lb lighter on both styles with swamp ash bodies over my alder bodied toys.
I left with 3 pairs of strings and no longings for better toys. Maybe I'm growing up,

Got to be honest, I'd love one of the distressed/antique paint jobs but I couldn't really justify the price tag.
I got some 1965 re-issue pick ups ready mounted on a scratch plate from US Ebay and had them dropped into my Mexican Strat by my local guitar shop. Sounds mega stratty and improved the guitar enormously. A really affordable upgrade and a fair bit cheaper than a visit to Fender Custom Shop.

I know the feeling. Sunday mornings is guitar day when my mate drops his wife off at 8 for her church group. He picks me up on the way back and we have 3 hours or so playing before grabbing a Wetherspoons breakfast on the way back to my place.
The last few weeks gave taken a lot longer to get started even with his heating on from 7.00. Worth it though.

One potential highlight is that the Crack Convertors in Aldershot has a boxed secondhand BOSS BD-2 Waza Craft edition for £50 in the window...

I use tc electronic unitune - haven't lost it or broken it so that the greatest accolade I can give it
I've got a Silver Snark which I haven't managed to break or lose yet that seems to work quite well.
Snark chews batteries compared with the TC. I have a PolyTune clip and a Peterson Stroboclip HD. PolyTune is great but the Stroboclip handles weird tunings and sweetened tunings.
If I had to choose one I’d go PolyTune.

I have a DAddario one but doubt it would stand up to being sat on (it has a flimsy looking hinge to angle the screen, not been a problem for me as it’s either on the guitar or the case).
How do you even manage to sit on them?
Any opinions on high end floor modellers? Thinking about getting a Fractal FM9 or a Quad Cortex. Plan on trying a QC in Guitar^2 after Xmas but can’t try the FM9. Sure they’ll both be amazing
I bought a Kemper Stage. I love it but I'm sure I'd love a Helix LT just as much.
Sonething about the QC makes me feel a bit meh. Sounds are great though. I know nothing about Fractal.
Edit: love the Stage but I have reservations about some of the modulation effects. I can't get the chorus or flangers to sound as good as my cheap pedals. Luckily there arefx loops to get round that.

It's definitely a couple of firmware updates away from where it needs to be but it's only going to get better.
I love a shiny music toy, and the Quad Cortex looks like it's only a drunken midnight accidental purchase away from being mine. However, my sensible side knows that I've had similar things before (TC Nova System, TC G-System, Boss EP-3, TC Plethora X5, HX Stomp... hmm, quite a few...) and I only ever use about four presets on each one in total, so the idea of having 300 amps at my fingertips fills me with dread and realisation that I really shouldn't buy one... 🙂

The Mrs ordered me some presents from That Pedal Show that somehow got lost somewhere. Dan and Mick were a huge help in sorting it out and took the time to do this for her to give to me!

I've hurt my back so finding a comfortable position to sit in is almost impossible at the moment. I still need to practice though! Have had a little go at trying to learn a bit of Plug In Baby. It's going to take a while to get up to speed!

I have been enjoying my Christmas present this year (which I only had to make a few obvious hints to secure... 🤣) - a TC Blood Moon phaser.
I'm assuming it's based on a classic circuit, but I don't know exactly what. Anyway, it does warbly psych stuff as you'd expect, but personally I like more subtle "slight movement" type sounds: works well for doom-y cleans. And it overdrives/distorts slightly if you hit the strings hard enough, which is quite pleasingly dynamic.
Good stuff for a cheaper pedal.

Re Floor modelers
With the current crop excluding QC I'd say the stomp xl is the best value for money given the latest update is very good.
I see the QC as the first of the next generation, has had it problems but will probably mature to be very good.
Assuming there will be no kemper update ever as seems to be a realistic proposition giver where Virus synths ended up
I think a reasonable upgrade to 'modern' firepower is a UA Ruby/Dream paired with your current pedal/modeler.
Realistically I'm waiting for the next line 6/Yamaha issue which is around 2 years away I think (hoping that Midi 2 will be available by then).
I must admit I wish I'd kept my Iridium.
Some of my current favourite sounds come from amp in a box distortions through the reverbs and speaker sims/IRs in my THR10 or my GT1000 Core. I bought the Core when the price of the Stomp shot up by £100, I should have bought a Helix LT instead.
The Core sounds great but lacks the built in buttons the Stomp XL has. There are workarounds though.
The Kemper is awesome but somedays I just want to plug into a couple of easily tweak able pedals and let rip.
THR10 is really great, though trying the Ruby/Dream through is less than stellar unfortunately
I've always enjoyed the sound of boss multifx and picked up the slicer pedal last week
Never played or even seen an axe fx which I bet is amazing
