It's that time of year, and there are some new trucks on the road, with new names on...

That is exactly why I like to buy cars that come from down south.

What the gritters cost the government they get back in taxes on new cars in Scotland for sure.

Gritters guarantee 10-15 year life span on a normal car because it'll be rotten by then

lol @trail_rat. Last car managed 18 years and a bit more I think. Bodywork was in pretty good nick.

The previous Golf, though, was in getting sorted by the guy I sold it to -- mechanic asked him if it had been driven into the sea, the engine bay was just a block of rust. Not quite, but had survived many years in Aberdeen and the N~E.

Plougher O’ Scotland and For Your Ice Only are my local two.
Kind of disappointed we don’t have Gritty Gritty Bang Bang.

One of these blooming things did a really scary close pass on me the other night! I complained to the local council, albeit through gritted teeth.

Our local gritters have pretty decent names: https://www.falkirk.gov.uk/news/article.aspx?aid=6336

The final names chosen are:

  • The Meltonator
  • Gritney Spears
  • Snowbie Wan Kenobie
  • Walter The Amazing Salter
  • Frost Buster
  • Sub Zero
  • Frostbite
  • Mickey Melter
  • Snow Bro
  • Betty McYeti
  • Sandman Sam
  • Ready Salted

And tracking map is brilliant: https://www.falkirk.gov.uk/maps-local/roads-parking-transport/grit-map.aspx

I hope it better NOT snow or get colder as I don't want to pay more for my energy bill ... I don't feel cold (well, I can manage) but the house feels cold and started to grow black mould ... aargghhh ...
