I welcome the differentiation from this site!

(And that is meant in a positive way as I've joined grit.cx as it probably better represents the way my cycling is going!!!)

You might want to leave that one on your clipboard or add it as a signature 😉

The 'awaiting moderation' feature is a great idea and sure to stimulate speedy and lively conversation. Like a modern version of having a pen pal.

So if your email has a number in it does that mean you can't join?

Your email address is not your username. The restrictions are on your username

No capital letters in the username?

It's a name therefore should have a capital letter? Grrr!

It's a username..

a name doesn't have the word, 'user' in front of it, which makes it something else.

No. If you subscribe to Grit.cx (subs will be available from early September) then you can turn the ads off on Grit.

We may decide to create a bundle package of the two sites if there's a demand for that but initially things will be simple and you can subscribe here and you can subscribe there. The pricing will be the same ie. £1.49/month.

You know how it was always said that stw shouldn't degenerate too far into sub-forums ?

well, err, isn't road.cc / grit.cx / grittyroad.lol just the same thing ?

😐

Two subforums wouldn't generate two subscriptions.

yeh, that was my thought 🙂

TBH, I don't mind that much but one of the attractions of stw for me was the "single" page. Not sure I can be arsed to look over there as well

Wonder if the mods will ever move threads to the more relevant site, once all bases are covered

(off to endurolite.grr for a bit)

I imagine after the novelty has worn off, and I don't mean that how it sounds, most users will gravitate back to STW.

I do wonder if mods will be actively encourage CX based threads to be reposted over at grrr.cx, tho.

There's a logic to merging all the forums into one GoFar megasite, with road / gnarl / stw / chat as subforums. But other magazines don't do that, you don't get Future Publishing's forums with SFX rubbing shoulders with Edge.

Tricky, innit.

Though the same can't be said for their editorial team. Which I think has now been tasked with providing content irrespective of what the target magazine is.

And a crazy idea, but some computers can actually change things to lower case rather than making you type it in again. Maybe something to consider on the next server upgrade 🙂

At least funky passwords are OK!

Bikeradar kind of does though, although theirs is more aligned by area and less by mag.

TBH having been over to Grit.cx it all looks a bit grey and uninspired, doubt I'll ever post there, when here covers a wider rang of cycling.
