Already mentioned in the OP but Chaplins speech in the Great Dictator still gets me every time. It will forever be poignant and true.

Whatcha got ain't nothin new. This country's hard on people, you can't stop what's coming, it ain't all waiting on you. That's vanity.

That is all.

Drac answers this question correctly on page 1 with his clip from True Romance. The best monologue ever - and I won't discuss it further.

Bit of Shakey is always good. True romance is a great call though.

great thread! Love that clip from True Romance

Take your pick from any of these! All Tarrantino films seem to have great dialogue

I would go for Roy at the end of Bladerunner as Mikey has said.

However, this is also very good.
Starts at about 0:39

Taxi Driver "June twenty-ninth. I gotta get in shape. Too much sitting has ruined my body. Too much abuse has gone on for too long. From now on there will be 50 pushups each morning, 50 pullups. There will be no more pills, no more bad food, no more destroyers of my body. From now on will be total organization. Every muscle must be tight. "

And then, they go an ruin the entire film by tacking on the cheesy "meeting on the beach" scene right at the end. Where the film should have ended is as the Greyhound coach slowly drives off into the distance over the gently rolling prairie, and ends on Freemans line "I hope i see my friend again, i hope"......

(because the entire point of TSR is that it is about hope, even if you shouldn't have any. Adding the crappy softy ending is silly. Next time you watch it, turn off or hit pause at the end of the bus scene and see how much better the film is!)

+1 for the failure to communicate dialogue from Cool Hand Luke.

The so-called Greed is Good speech from Gordon Gekko in Wall Street resonates in ways it never could back in 1987.

"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures, the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge, has marked the upward surge of mankind and greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the U.S.A"
