A colleague is doing a reasonably hefty walk in the next few months, so I've suggested getting some decent boots.

Any recommendations for good outdoor shops that will take time to fit boots somewhere around west London / Slough / Reading?

Worth a trip to the Big City to visit the various shops near Covent Garden?

As tiger6791 said above plus Fox's in Amersham is very good for footwear.

decathlon in reading do good boots. May not have the brand names, but i've had a few pairs that have lasted a good few hikes in the lakes

I popped into Fox's in Amersham a little while ago. I was very surprised with the quality of the stuff in there, it's not the usual tat that you'd fine in a out of town supposedly outdoorsy shop (i.e Regatta and Karrimor)

Yeah, I used to live near-ish to Amersham - can't think why I didn't think of them. Good shop.

Used to work for the Cotswold in Reading as Saturday job....gulp...14 years ago! Anyway, staff receive decent boot training in Cotwolds, and typically if you go in the week, you get the full time staff who particularly tend to know their stuff.

We've bought plenty of boots in Cotswold in Windsor. They know their stuff. And they give 10% discount to CTC members.

I do at last think Teen 1 and 2's feet have finally stopped growing!
