I much prefered Mestizo to Wahaca (which like a Mexican Wagamama).
http://london.mestizomx.com/
This place has just opened down the side of Charring X station. Claims to be genuine Mexican, does things like cactus quasidellas.

As above daddy donkey is great if you want take away

wahaca makes a fair stab without going down the 'traditional authentic age old secret recipe handed down' route. Also central locations, and good prices. Unfair to compare to wagamamas though- you're not being ushered out the door before you've even sat down.

Mestizo looks like it might be worth a journey to Hampstead though.

I like Wahaca but it depends what you're after.

If you want a good burrito or tacos, then either Benitos Hat on Goodge Street, or Chilango on Upper St or Fleet St.

it's not in Hampstead, that's just the name of the road. It's between Euston and Mornington Crescent/Camden. Just for info like...

I would have to go with your wife the Mexican food in London is pathetic and have never found a good example. I spend about 6-7 weeks a year in the states and generally try to get as much Mexican down me as I will not bother try in the UK anymore. That aside our Chinese is far better.
