I wonder if any other sports company will be prepared to risk occupying the vacant niche and marketing themselves as the “patriotic” alternative to Nike?

Trumps Pumps?

All the racist rednecks losing their shit on Twitter is comedy gold.

A favourite theme seems to be that true sacrifice seems to involve serving your country in the forces, because as we all know none of the people doing that are black, are they?

Nike have a long history of sponsoring athletes of every colour so I applaud them for that.  Some of their other practices may not be great but you'll struggle to find a company of their size that doesn't have a few skeletons in the closet TBH!  I still wouldn't buy anything made by Nike but that's more to do with their image here, same as I'd think twice before buying a pair of Adidas trainers (5.10's aside).

Those people burning Nike stuff, especially while wearing them, are idiots and pure comedy gold.

In a few years, you'll see different sportwear brands preemptively taking sides in the second American civil war. Families torn apart, brother against brother, black against white, Nike against Under Armour....

Unbelievable how stupid some are to destroy a product or boycott them just because someone stood up to fascist president.

I still wouldn’t buy anything made by Nike but that’s more to do with their image here

And pray tell what is this image terrible means you won't wear a certain brand.

Its just a marketing stance. Its got nothing to do with race or anything else beyond selling more stuff. Nike will have concluded that using this guy will kick up a fuss and get them lots of free advertising.

Some of the local drug dealers wear Nike stuff, just don't want to be associated with that.  Otherwise I'd wear some of their kit as it would be good for going to the gym.  Same with Adidas.

Do you avoid everything these drug lords wear? What about the ones not wearing Nike do you avoid jeans and a t-shirt too?

Best avoid North face too  apparently the expedition down jacket was a favourite water proof and lots of pockets for those evenings on the streets.

Levi's supporting gun control.

There's going to be a lot of singed rednecks.

On that Levi’s supporting gun control article there’s a link you can click to read the comments. I think I’ll pass, as I still have a hair of faith in humanity...

Aah yes, bad role models. You don't want kids copying that.

But then lot of professional athletes wear Nike, and they are good role models.

And then there's the millions of other normal people that also wear Nike, where do they fit??

Judging by some of the customers of WalMart, they don't fit in any brand...

Summed up far more neatly by the gif above. 😉

At least the drug dealers are 'honest' about what they do...

I love next to Tremorfa so there are a lot of life's wasters around and they all wear Nike or Adidas.   The police regularly stop people dressed like them under a local power they have.  It's just easier to not wear trousers/tops/hats showing these brands, nothing sinister about it whatsoever.  I don't know why you're among a big thing of it, I congratulate Nike on sponsoring athletes if every colour and creed.  I'm a jeans and t-shirt person normally but going to and from the gym in the evening it's just easier to wear non branded stuff than attract the attention of the police.  If the locals wore Under Armour I'd avoid that for the same reason and probably wear Nike Instead!

Nike are doing a cracking job of cleansing their brand.

I bet they are glad that the sort of person that behaves like this and has these types of opinion will no longer be promoting their brand by being seen out in it.

All the items that are being destroyed or burnt are already paid for.

It is a great marketing strategy getting people to destroy a product that they have already purchase.

I would there is an excellent chance 50% of the people who have finished burning their shoes and need to buy a new pair will buy Nike again.

See Trump has tweeted his support, NOT!  Say's he finds the NFL hard to watch - no surprise there then

Consumerist society protest. Burn what you’ve already purchased or even better buy something just to burn it. I just feel saddened (not surprised) that anyone could be against his stance.

Nike should donate money to a worthy cause for every tweet of some ****ing idiot burning their trainers.

Well NFL is probably a bit too fast paced for Trump to keep up with.

Loving the **** cutting up his own socks.

In a neat squaring of the circle they are acting like the dudes in Teheran or wherever when they burn the Stars And Stripes. Presumably they didn’t have a flag just hanging around, so they’ve had to go and buy one. Then burn it. As Russell Howard pointed out, you’re not burning america’s flag. You’re burning your own flag that you’ve bought, you dick.

So a nobhead in America cuts up his own socks in protest against a protest? If there is an American equivalent to Mensa I doubt he’s on the list.

The reason this protest enrages that piece of shit Trump is because he can’t do a damned thing about it. Basic rule of thumb. If what you do and think is likely to be against what the likes of Trump and Farage would want, then you are on the right track.

It is all quite funny until you realise the mistakes of the 1930s are being made all over again. Narcissistic career politicians thinking they can ride the beast of racism and intolerance to get them where they want and then just pop the genie back in the bottle.

‘Americans for Donald j trump’ on FB are now going down the ‘how is it right that these (pic of Far East factory workers, putting trainers together) factory workers (80% women) have to work for just 20 cents a day to give Nike enough profit to pay CK for protesting about injustice?’

ive enquired as to why they’ve only started being bothered about this ‘grave injustice’ in the last couple of days. Will let you know what they come back with...
