The metropolitan is very lush and expensive if you turn up at the desk on the day, but if you book in advance and go at a weekend it's pretty cheap.

I had a memorable weekend with a lady who is now my wife there a few years ago.

Try late rooms or one of the similar websites.

There's an Etap, just outside my window. 3 mins from the centre, 2 mins from the bus station, has parking and Resonable rates/accomodation.

If you're going on the weekend ask at the Radisson for their weekend rates. It has THE best location in the city, but is more expensive.

[EDIT] Stay at the Malmaison if you want plush

for short work stays

in leeds central one, you can get a mini apartment online from £50 a night, comes with plates, cultery, microwave etc etc

they have nicer/more expensive apartments plus one in leeds city...

very good

IBIS £44 per night if you book on web, has a bar and a restaurant that is ok. I spend half my life in that place

City Inn is better than bewleys and cheaper than Malmaison. I stay in Leeds a lot with work!

The bar at the top of city is pretty cool too on a nice night - not cheap though.

are you bringing a bike with you.

Nope, will be a flying visit unfortunately. Might be back at some point with a bike though, and will take up the offer.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far, will get around to booking something tomorrow

I second Bewley's - travelodge prices but much a much nicer type of place altogether.
