I stand corrected, 599 for the last 2min. Still, crikey.
stage 2: Stupinigi > Novara 179.4km
Pan flat sprinters stage...

Watching the tt and wondering why they have a double chain ring on the front. Given how flat the course is I can’t see them changing down and would have thought taking weight out of moving parts and they would be an aero advantage I’m not having a front mech. Anyone know why?
is it a kind of paranoia chain keeper thang ?
It's the UCI sock rule, each chainring equals one sock.
Minimum weight on bikes so maybe taking it off means a need to replace with weight elsewhere? Weight needs to be structural to so can't just add weights to the frame i think
Anyone know why?
Guy on Eurosport asked the same question last night, he could only assume it was a sponsor requirement.
3 man break, cigars out in the peloton
Thanks for the ideas

The weight saving of the inner ring and mech isn't worth worrying about in a flat TT AND as above stops chain bouncing off.
good finish
Could be a bit tense in the UAE bus, what with Gaviria being nerfed into the barriers by a teammate!
Quest coverage is go...interesting outfit from Orla
Brave clothing choices from wiggo too. Mrs NBT winced visibly at yesterday's skin tight off white polo neck

Good though that the new barrier style worked well, he just bounced off and carried on riding, albeit out of the running for the win
interesting outfit from Orla
Looked like ski boots to me.
Anyone in France know how to watch the race here ( @Edukator )? Eurosport 1 and 2 were showing judo and tennis(?) today, not on Equipe 21 either. I would normally watch S4C, but that's geo-restricted. Help!
Stage 3: Biella > Canale 191km
A Few Bumps....

some bonus seconds at the to of the final classified, if the breakaway doesn't gobble them up then we may see a GC sprint.

ganna auditions for day time bottle sales man

for some reason images not being displayed 🙁
Looks like a fun stage to watch today. Reminds me a bit of the stage that Carapaz won the year he won pink, with Caleb Ewan in 2nd. Climby-sprinters vs sprinty-climbers is always good value.
Has anyone been listening to Ned Boulting and David Millar's morning giro podcast? They've rebranded from Never Strays Far to Never Strays Farfalle. If you like that pun then I suspect you'll like the general tone of their chat.
interesting outfit from Orla
🤐
Avid listener of Ned and David’s podcasts. Good behind the scenes info on how the Giro is organised as Ned is working for the Giro providing the international fees commentary.
excellent podcast.
Bit of dust from Wouter Weylandt's story, comedy from bird noises, and Ned Boulting doing wheel changes for a pro tour team (or not, as it happens)
[edit - posted before the finish, got a bit grim at the end........]
LOL no gifts in the Pro Peloton 😉
the peleton are probably dreaming of a Sicilian start, looks well miserable out there today.
Bora and Sagan are all in for this....

anyone know how we can listen to Ned Boulting's commentary live?
bora! bora! bora!
fantastic ride from the break.
Brilliant, that's one happy gent.
“Will you celebrate tonight?”
“Uh yeah I’ve just had a rather unexpected win at a grand tour”.
That was a good win. Not sure Sagan should be calling the shots on the road though. Who is the road captain at Bora?
watched live until 15km to go and thought it was nailed on for a bunch sprint.
Then for Tony G and Ciccone to make a late break stick.
And then when Taco attacked his breakaway mate that far out, I sat up, mainly thinking 'wtf would you attack there......'
And now his pain face and his interview - brilliant!
smaller teams means less teams with sprinters and once Bora had dropped half of them (other teams sprinters) on the earlier climbs there was a lack of firepower to bring him back along with letting an eight man break go to start with.
Vinyl trousers today
Brilliant viewing. Well chuffed for him 😁
what a ride great for wanty too

could be vietnam!

they are some narrow bars !

Is it going to be Evenepol or Vlasov in the pink at the end of today? Can’t see Ganna holding on.
Remco
Has anyone seen a picture still where Taco looks around sees the bunch too far back and puts his hand to his mouth? Possibly the picture of the Giro if it's available. (It's around 5 seconds before he puts his arms out).
