What's quickest, cheapest and easiest? Time probably main thing as not got loads of time between flights. Nat express bus seems ok about 1 hour. Nae that cheap tho £25 each way pp

Use the bus, train is a b@llache and a cab is going to be more than £25.

Bus is best but you need to watch out for the time of transfer. 7:30-9:30am or 5:00-6:30pm could be a problem.

Seriously having a large airport with no train links is ridiculous. Mainland europe does it so much better.

Both of them have train links into central London though, which serves most peoples purpose. I can't imagine its that common for people to transit between the two. Do they do this often on the mainland? FWIW, might be worth looking at a car hire if there were 4 of you, but I don't think it'd be as cheap, as fast or as convenient as the coach service. The extra charge for a 1 way hire might make it too costly.

Sorry I was being Heathrow specific. Gatwick and Stansted have good train links to Central London for their distance to London. You can also go in other directions from these airports via the train. Heathrow is relatively speaking a slow journey to London and it's the end of the line. Many travelers would like to go to other parts of the UK direct from Heathrow - that's why Cross rail is happening.

Agreed not too many people go Gatwick to Heathrow and it's a pain to get between them except by road.

Gatwick Express to Victoria 35mins
Victoria to Paddington Tube Circle line 7 stops 30mins
Heathrow express from Paddington 15 mins

Reliable as express trains run every 30mins from gatwick and every 15 from paddington

I'd get the coach from Gatwick to Heathrow time will be within 10 minutes of the best possible train journey but without the hassle of two changes, just get on one end get off the other.

Heathrow Express = The most expensive train fair per mile travelled in the UK.

muppetwrangler you're right £ wise.
Depends on the risk of M25 traffic buildup and M4 with no bus lane
You pays your money you takes your choice

I thought that sounded cool, so I looked up the crossrail route. I don't think it would make much difference to most people WRT Heathrow. More for opening up the commuter belt by removing the need for the tube in lots of cases.

No one way rental fee with most of the big companies when travelling within London, which includes the airports if I recall correctly.
