I'd check you're on the best rates available to you in your area - seems steep

Is that an estimate, and have you any backlog?

I have a 1890 solid wall Victorian terrace (3 bedroom) and spend less than £50 / month with a 25 year old boiler and don't skimp on the Thermostat - so how on earth do you get to over £100 a month?

Sounds steep to me. I live in a 120 year old drafty detached money pit with a 5 year old combi-boiler, made before they had A ratings etc. £270 a month for gas and lekky - and it's in the North of Scotland, which we all know is permanantly frozen all year. I've just switched and should save about £700 a year, if I believe the hype. Visit moneysavingexpert.com for a check-up.

I wish I lived in Wrexham.

I doubt your tariff has increased, unless you have come to the end of a fixed price contract. Monthly payments attempt to spread the cost, but its a prediction that is then adjusted to pay of any debit from the previous year. Any factors in weather, lifestyle etc can make the monthly amount redundant and you are then underpaying. The utility companies don't have a crystal ball.

I pay 35 for gas and 25 for elec and have 4 beds, family of 4 at home most of the week. I am however anal when it comes to energy saving..(and I work at one of the companies [runs and hides])

seems that this is an estimate of what we'll use over winter. i.e. the direct debit not the tarrif has increased. still seems steep though
