Just got back from my lads U13 football when I heard the news. Knocked me sideways. One of the games good guys. RIP Gary. Have some good memories watching him at BWFC.

Jeez. This is indeed sad - as Baron says, always seemed to be one of the good guys. I hope his family are left to get on with this in peace. Terrible news.

Top bloke - didn't have the best tenure as manager at Sheffield Untited, but was a thouroughly decent chap and always humble. As a player he had an outstanding career and watching him run rings round young lads at 39 years old at Bramall Lane epitomised that. RIP Gary - a sad loss.

RIP Gary, I'm gutted and stunned by this. Thoughts with his parents, wife and kids.

What a sad situation where he felt this was his only solution.

Top bloke, great professional and a cracking header of the ball. Some great memories at St James'.

he was indeed fantastic in the air, without doubt the most able header of the ball i've ever seen.
