[Closed] Garage door repair - What is this?

Dad's garage door is temperamental, occasionally won't open.
It seems that the cable goes through the round plastic thing behind the lock and has a grub screw holding it in place. The thread that said grub screw goes into appears to have gone so I need a new one. Should be easy enough to deal with I'd have thought, but I can't work out what to search for to source new one.

Any ideas?

Could you drill/tap out the plastic to take a bigger thread & screw?

+1 for bigger screw.

Or screw a threaded insert in to give a better thread for the grub screw (eg https://www.screwfix.com/p/insert-nuts-type-d-m6-x-13mm-50-pack/59937 but lots of different sizes available)

For a proper bodge, couldn't you clamp it as it comes out the plastic thing with something?

It's likely called a garage door handle cam, as that's what it is, it's a cam to provide additional leverage to pull the cables when you turn the handle.

Had exactly same issue

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WIRE-ROPE-CABLE-CLAMP-CLIPS-GRIPS-2mm-3mm-4mm-5mm-6mm-SIMPLEX/173977877019

I used one of these, it's lasted 2+ years up to now
