late catching up...

Dorne: good grief, it's still there.

Arya: where did that face come from?

Everything else: top episode.

Two cracking episodes at the end of this season.

Maybe she took a grab bag of faces with her when she left the House of Black and White?

I think I prefer that option to the other logical conclusion. ๐Ÿ˜•

I thought the face changing thing was supposed to be something the Faceless Men could do. And then they'd need to go shopping in the Face Shop in the temple. Or maybe she just needs a handy corpse and ten minutes with the magic makeup bag. After all, five minutes with some fancy crayons and a handy artist and my nipper looked like a tiger, possibly not enough to convince a real tiger, but this is GoT and they have magic crayons.

Maybe all that was explained somewhere in the Faceless chappies storyline during the last two or three series, I forget, I tuned out a bit from that one when it started getting a bit stretched out.

I thought the thing with Arya blowing out the candle and sleeping with needle was that she's knows the other girl will come for her and she can use her blind skills to kill her . Maybe

I was right

Well sort of. She did use the dark/candle/needle to finish off The Waif - but the fact that she was coming for her was inexplicably a complete and utter surprise.

I read that it was the greatest screen battle of all time.

For telly, maybe.

For anyone missing GoT BuzzFeed have being going clickbait mad on them.

Well of all the players left.... (and rewatching some of it as I'm bored)
Tyrion was good and helpful to Jon when they saw each other and protected Sansa all the time he could.
The resurrection of the Mormonts in the North could also play well when they here what Jora has been up to

Still MIA Gendry the last possible Barratheon

Jon gave Ayra the sword when she left.

Jamie might not have much time for Cersi these days after what she did, he is already starting to crack a fair bit.

So my prediction the 4 great houses will unite (after Cersi leaves) as they realise none of the ones left in Westeros actually want to be on the throne and it's been a bad idea - oh and dragons win wars. (Season 7)

Then off North (Season 8)

Given he's not exactly shy about killing off people, does anyone else suspect he won't end it on a "positive" note? And by that I mean the white walkers being defeated. Wouldn't put it past him to have the white walkers win! A nice downbeat ending. It just doesn't feel like the kind of show that will have a nice schmaltzy Finale!

Mmmm... I could imagine him doing a "We were the bad guys after all, not them" ending.

But that would suck.

Even though he apparently wanted to upset the standard fantasy tropes, I think there has to be some kind of payoff to the various character arcs, even though it might be bitter sweet.

Yeah just being hopeful,

Watching back Tyrion comes across as more of a unifying character as he goes along(well through self preservation at times) Jon knows whats coming, the only issue is where to park the hordes in the ships and how much will be left of Kings Landing

2/3 of the way through season 5...Khaleesi is starting to worry me, Jon Snow and Sansa have become more interesting..not seen Hodor Hodor! For a while, Cersai's having a bad day..

My big worry now is that if there are only 2 (truncated) seasons left, and given the slow pace so far, it's going to be very rushed from now on. Very few of the characters even know/believe of the existence of the white walkers yet, never mind thinking about fighting them. Also it's taken 4 seasons for the Starks to capture one stinking castle so they're really going to have to up their game!

Perhaps the fight will remain in The North or perhaps even be taken North of the Wall.

The South only hear about it in stories and myths, like the one we are being told by the elderly Grand Maester Samwell.. ..zoom out and fade to black.

Startks in Winterfell, Lannisters in trouble and the biggest army sailing for Kings Landing. I'm guessing she kicks it off in within 2 episodes and the rest is the carnage that follows. All the stories are just about tied up now. The game board so to speak is set.

This season just gone cracked on at a reasonable pace I thought.

Yeah but no but yeah but it's the biggest and bestimost castle in the whole world, so obviously quite difficult to capture. Stannis had a go before the Stark army, and stacked it, Jon Stargaeryn only managed it because Littlefinger was convinced to roll up with some chaps on horses halfway through the fight.

Apart from the fact it is apparently only protected by a feeble wooden door that a giant can easily break through. ๐Ÿ˜€

(no moat, gatehouse, drawbridge, portcullis, barbican or murder holes?)

Not any of these things though.

Biggest?.... Harrenhal
Most secure from attack? ....The Eyrie
Bestest?... The Red Keep
Richest? ...Casterly Rock

Didn't even have a moat or a portcullis, just a single wooden door...

I suspect Winterfell has some magic lurking in the catacombs, bit like The Wall. I also suspect some sort of ill luck will fall on Blond Queenie soon as otherwise her army is too big and powerful and we wont have an sense of worry.

Sort of my point. It's more of a big house. All the Starks needed was planning permission and a few hundred tonnes of rock and they could have moved in next door.

I also suspect some sort of ill luck will fall on Blond Queenie

Dragons?
Her brother?
The big dead chap infects her with deadness?

Don't forget the sheer scale of the Night's King's army though. We glimpsed it near the end of Hardhome:

[img] [/img]

And that that was back in Season 5.

Dany's main advantage is air support from the dragons. If she loses control of them (Dragonbinder horn) or they have to fight air-to-air (ice dragons) then the odds will be evened very quickly.

Giants were (and are again) thought extinct so no point building a giant proof door.

Not sure it needs anything too far fetched. An army built for and used to fighting in the climate of the far south won't fare very well in the North now that winter has arrived. Stretched supply lines, difficulty in making any progress, clothing tens of thousands of soldiers etc. I reckon she could take Kings landing without breaking too much of a sweat but taking the whole of the 7 kingdoms is a different kettle of fish.

I'm viewing kings landing as a sub plot at this poin

Robert B, dead.
Stannis, dead.
Renly, dead.
Robb, dead.
Joffrey, dead.
Tommen, dead.

The only interested parties left are
Cersei Firestarter
Daniella Fireproof
one of whom can call in airstrikes.

Who's left oop north?
A battered collection of Northerners, lead by a dead bloke.
A lot of zombies, with some wizardy overlords.

You have forgotten the Hotties of Dorne who will lap dance you to death
Arya who will kill you to death
A red witch on the prowl
And the bloke who must be up to 2/1000 ships by now

Bron will sort them out on his own and still be back in time to take the piss.

Bron doesn't have the skills. This would be a job for Podrick, the only man other than Varys to leave the brothel with all his money.

You have forgotten

also not present on the list (which was mainly meant to be kings and queens, but what the hell)...

Gendry
Brienne of where-was-that-again?
Sir Jorah

And the bloke who must be up to 2/1000 ships by now

He can't seriously be a credible plot can he? I thought he was simply parachuted in to the show as an excuse for sending the Lovejoys to join up with Dragon lady?

Either way, [s]the T1000[/s] Arya could sort him out in mere minutes.

I gather he is a major player in the books, and considerably nastier too.

Also forgetting:
The Hound, who's likely joined up with some dodgy religious dudes.
My reckoning for the rest:
Cersei will get killed sometime towards the end of the next season (7th) and then jamie will get a full storyline arc where he meets Brienne again and completly redeems himself and gets to write more pages about himself in his big book but then gets killed in the 2nd to last episode of the 8th (last) season.
I think it's possible that we will see at least one character come back to life as a Zombie, (those who have read the books will know who I mean) not essential to the plot but just as filler fluff. Ayra will finish her list but will die before seeing any of her siblings again.
The greyjoy uncle will be the next seasons baddie.

But so far he's had about ten minutes total screen time, which is even less than Dorne.

Right who can tell me why the zombies couldnt attack Bran in his tree internet training place and what happend to mean they could. I'm thinking the bit under winterfell will have the same, too much has been made of it for them not to be important somehow.
Also can Bran head of south of the wall and still log onto the interwebs? Why was the old bloke from Force Awakens stuck in his tree?

He allowed the Nights' King to touch him in his vision. He now has the supernatural equivalent of the "cheese touch" which allows the Others to track him.

Also can Bran head of south of the wall and still log onto the interwebs?

He needs the weirwood trees. There's one at almost every castle in Westeros.

when this happens or rather appears to have happened there's no time frame reference. So even though it's the next scene for us watching the tv series weeks could have elapsed in real terms for the characters.

Which is fine, until they cut to another scene where no time has passed.

....which assumes that the various plot threads are occurring contemporaneously.
Which they clearly aren't since Bran took an entire season to get from one end of a cave to the other.

....which assumes that the various plot threads are occurring contemporaneously.
Which they clearly aren't..

Which is also fine except sometimes those separate plot threads interact.

Sansa sends Brienne and Podrick to Riverrun in Episode 5.

Jaime gets sent to Riverrun at the end of Episode 6, just before Cersei faces her trial. He arrives there in Episode 7.

Brienne and Podrick eventually arrive in Episode 8. Fair enough it's a long journey from The Wall but they are there to persuade Blackfish to fight in the Episode 9 battle (maybe there is a shortcut on the way back? Or maybe not, since Brienne doesn't make it back for that battle either)
When they get there the Lannister forces have had time to set up a proper siege and pitched all their tents. There's more time for Brienne to chat with Jaime and then Blackfish, while Jaime tortures Edmure.

Then in Episode 10 we see Jaime and Bronn celebrating with the Freys up at The Twins, then they teleport back to King's Landing in the same episode, despite it being a fair distance, and find The Sept still burning from Cersei's trial.

So how long was Jaime gone for exactly?
