I can't see how it would be that distracting either. But I suppose it's hard to predict how you'll react to very out-of-place things - I suspect they're watching for stupid spectators all the time as they often run into the road etc and won't want to kill them. If they were not having to concentrate on spectators they might not be so distracted. Childish pranks like this deserve a kicking.

The guys at the top of their game (especially at speed) notice everything - whether its rallying, FI or MotoGP - this is why they can drive/ride at speed, safely.
