So i had a little gin stashed in the freezer
went to pour one this evening only to find its freezing, not frozen but with significant 'ice' in it

does gin freeze? i always assumed not in a domestic freezer

Hate to break it to you, that's not a freezer.

if anyone told me the story, i would say "topped up with water"

but its only me and the missus
its a small plastic bottle, only ever had the bit of gin i poured out of the bottle to replace with sloes

no idea how cold the freezer is, might have to investigate...

the plastic bottle and large surface area 'may' have helped its freezability, but that link suggests that even then my freezer might be -25C....

its never frozen any spirits before!

For whatever reason, either:

a) it's not as strong as you think it is or,

b) your freezer is colder than you think it is.

Why put it in the freezer ?

Are you trying to hide it ?

You do know how to drink it ?

Sucking a gin ice cube would feel odd.

I keep gin in the freezer - it goes gloopy but not solid and does not split. slowe gin turns to slush in the same freezer

Sloe gin slush puppies. If they served them at the local picture house I'd go more often.
