Recommendations, if you would. Must have cool spaceships, preferably recent, not Star Wars and I've seen that thing with McConertherty.
Thanks in advance.
Battlestar Galactica : Razor
Serenity?
Blade Runner 2049
Valerian
If you can forgo spaceships, Moon?
If not, the coolest is in HHGTTG.
Fifth Element.
Obviously.
BSG +1 (the reboot, not the 80s original). Start with the pilot...
or BSG Blood & Chrome, that's a good stand alone film
The Thing.
If you have Netflix [url=
Bright is pretty good. Will Smith does a decent turn without his usual quips
Bsg is a good call but then I'll have to watch ALL of it.
Serenity goes on the list, Bladerunner sounds like it might require thought, Valerian not. Moon was good but..no spaceships. Is the |
Hitchhiker's reboot any good? Fith Element is more of a classic, I only know the original Carpenter Thing, does it have spaceships?
Thanks, people.
Bright is not awful
Valerian is....but in a Luc Besson way which makes it very watchable.
Just to be typically STW how about a blast from the past (1975 to be exact):
Space 1999 season 1 ep4 “War Games” Some very good (and very clunky) special effects. I think you can find it on you tube.
I really enjoyed bright.
Technically I should hate it, but it's worth a watch.
Guardians of the galaxy 1 & 2
Sunshine
or there's The Expanse on Netfilx. OK it's a series (two actually), not a film, but it has ships and SFX and stuff
Erm...dare I say Jupiter Ascending?..it's not that bad 😳
But seriously; start watching Killjoys which is very good.
Agree on Guardians of the galaxy 1 & 2, spaceships aliens and a great laugh all in one.

Bright is ****ing TERRIBLE! Bizzare plot with massive holes, awful acting, doesn't really go anywhere. Obviously a Luc Besson film is allowed to have all those things because it looks incredible 🙂
I thought Life was quite good.
Bright is not awful
Sounds like a reviewer quote you used to get on the back of video tapes that got cut off too early
Bright is not awful......ly bad, it's a f**ing s**t show of epic proportions, but at least Will Smith got paid a bucketload
I've heard good things about Europa Report
+1 for The Expanse.
Europa Report also better than you might have thought. Certainly better than Bright.
I found Europa Report better second time around.
Best designed/coolest spaceship in the last few years for me has to be Starship Avalon in Passengers. Movie's not bad either.
Old school. Babylon 5 from the beginning.
New school. Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Old old school. Silent Running.
Contact.
The Expanse is brilliant....but read the books.
Serenity goes on the list,
If you don't -definitely- want a movie, you're better off watching the Firefly series than Serenity. It's still cool though.
I'm up to date with the Expanse, books and TV, Guardians of the Galaxy was meh, Babylon 5 was excellent - the films a bit weak though, Jupiter ascending was that bad. So it's down to Serenity, Passengers or Europa Report, with life filed for another day.
Thanks to all.
The Expanse is superb
We all Beltalowda !
The Roci is my favorite spaceship.
Serenity only any good if you've watched firefly.
Tbh there really isn't enough sci-fi out there
I thought guardians 1 was OK, the second one was crap.
Bright is a good shout
Oblivion
"The year is 2259. The name of the place is Babylon 5" always raises a chucklecringe
IMO Babylon 5 has not aged well.
Life
The Martian
Independence day 2
Oblivion
A really good film, it's got Tom cruse in it, but apart from that, it's well worth a watch.
Life
Calvin, thats what i couldnt remember earlier. Not wishing to post a spoiler, those that have seen it will know what Im on about.
So far, Bright rhymes with what I'm thinking of it.
This far and nobody has mentioned Alien?
Binge watch 7 episodes of Stranger Things......just me then. 😯
Hang on for a few weeks and watch Altered Carbon on Netflix. I don’t see how the book can be translated well to the screen, but I’m willing to be proven wrong. Expanse is brilliant, can’t wait for book 8
If you have Netflix try Killjoys. Kind of like Firefly.
