If you dont mind a walk you park at Southville somewhere and walk across Gaol Ferry bridge.

Bristol City Centre. Free car parking. “Methinks I should wear a corset for fear my sides should split”
You, sir, are ’aving a laff. The only place I know is Mitchell Lane and St Thomas Street, close to the The Fleece, but that's only after 6pm. Otherwise a longish walk is required. Oh, and car parks are chuffin' expensive.

The closest "free" parking is by the river near Southville. Ten minute walk into town. Or up in Clifton.
